I`ve only heard one song,(the "Reck of the Edmund Fits Gerald,") nor do I know much about the composer, but ever since I`ve alway addmired him. I first heard it in first grade (and again in fourth)at music class. We lissined and followed along in our books. Its one of my favorite songs ever and I hope to hear it again soon!

If you like The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald, you should see if you can purchase a copy of one of Gordon Lightfoot's CD's. He has written many more fabulous songs so give it a try. You can find The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald on the album Summertime Dream along with some other really good songs. If you want to try another album, I would suggest the album Sundown to get you started. If you like those songs as well, then you'll be well on your way to becoming a Gordon Lightfoot fanatic like the rest of us. Also, consider becoming a member of this forum. You'll find a lot of friendly people here who love to discuss Gordon Lightfoot and will be very helpful to a new Gord fan. Hope to hear from you again soon.

Welcome Nori http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif
Its great to meet a new Lightfoot fan. I agree with all the things "Young Stranger" has said, except I think the first CD you should buy is "Don Quixote". Its the first one I brought, now I'm hooked for life. There are so many wonderful songs on this Album ( you can check out all the words on this site ). Some of the songs I'm sure you will love are, Don Quixote, Christian Island, Alberta Bound, Brave Mountaineers, and Ode to Big Blue, they are all great songs to sing along with. I agree with what has been stated previously by Young Stranger and Catmanron about getting into Gordon's music. Buy those albums and also pick up the 2-cd set The United Artists Collection which contains many of his classics from the 1960s. I'd also recommend becoming a member of this forum. ------------------ When the green dark forest was too silent to be real. |
Lightfoot678,
Every time I see the UA collection in a music store I want to buy it (then I feel guilty about spending money, although Gord CDs are probably one of the best ways to spend money). There are so many songs on this album, are they the same recordings I have on Songbook? Of course I will still buy it since there are a lot of songs on the UA collection that aren't on Songbook, but I was just wondering if the ones included on Songbook were the same recordings? Y.S. |
they are the same as songbook, but there's a lot of hidden gems there that aren't on songbook :)
