I have heard a man claim he wrote many lightfoot songs yet they arent denoted as written by another.The song softly for example,he claims was sold to a music company and Gordon recorded it.Is this possible it isnt denoted in the discography?

Gordon unless you are in fact Duncan and being mischevous yet again you just might have indicated quite where you heard this preposterous claim and state whether you in even the slightest way believe it.It sounds a load of horse droppings to me and moreover if you believe what you heard you should not be posting here IMHO

Since posting that Gordon has sent me a private message that clarifies his question somewhat.
Firstly he in effect denies that he is the infamous Duncan (a.k.a. For starters the sheet music as contained in the "Playalong With The Record" book that matches the "The Way I Feel" album clearly attributes Softly to GL and after all these years I would have expected a genuine claimant to have taken some legal action.
In any case a google search for
"lightfoot softly sheet music"
produces well over 4000 web results the majority clearly implicating Gord as the songwriter
