I just spent some time doing a google image search for GL pictures. Amongst many other things that I had not seen before among the almost 4000*** results are the following items:-
http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/9...ight6009qc.jpg Picture reduced in size from the original, which was too large to display here at 800x533 pixels ( jpg file size 16304 bytes) to as shown above 600x400 (now only 10121 bytes) on site:- http://www.likewater.net/photos2005.html picture title is “Lightfoot by moonlight” Could form the basis of an attractive album cover(my "house" colours are black and red in fact) And a nicely expressed Harmony review by Billy Altman in Harp Magazine at:- http://harpmagazine.com/articles/det...rticle_id=2327 Rants & Faves from Sep/Oct 2004 "It would take a more mystical type than me (perhaps that noted Kabbalist, Madonna) to try and explain what forces drove Gordon Lightfoot to record solo demos of new songs just prior to suffering a near-fatal abdominal aneurysm in Fall 2002 while on tour in, of all places, his very birthplace of Orillia, Ontario. Rather than joining the crew of the Edmund Fitzgerald, however, Lightfoot survived, spending his lengthy convalescence supervising overdubs of those demos, the results of which comprise his latest album, Harmony. Is it good, you ask? Please. This is the Bard of the Great White North we’re talking about here. Does the man know how to pen a lyric? Have you ever heard anyone rhyme “shellfish” and “selfish”? Does the man know what to write about? Have you ever heard an album discussing love (“Inspiration Lady”), longing (“Clouds of Loneliness”), and polar bears (“Flyin’ Blind”)? Does the man know how to get a song stuck in your head? Try forgetting “Couchiching,” during which, in barely three minutes, Gordo sings the title word forty-nine times. Couchiching, by the way, is a (natch) lake located right near-you guessed it-Orillia. Into the mystic, indeed. First printed in Sep/Oct 2004 I found a pleasant SFAWN cover Winter's Night (Gordon Lightfoot) From the album John Beland's Christmas At Baxters mp3 downloadable from http://members.chello.at/country.rock/downloads.htm which reminds me I earlier found an acceptable Carefree Highway cover downloadable as carefreehighway.mp3 from http://www.sundown-entertainment.com/sundown/mafia songs/white tiger - gordon lightfoot - carefree highway.mp3 that is the download URL I could not back up on the web site to determine who the singer actually was presumably “White Tiger” Here is a nice Live 8 back view http://www.ctv.ca/generic/WebSpecial...ages/img10.jpg on http://www.ctv.ca/generic/WebSpecial...y/image10.html John Fowles ***After about 600 google declares that "In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 609 already displayed." |
Nice pic.s John! :) You always get good ones. ;)
Speaking of "Harmony",can you believe that Thursday is already the 2nd anniversary?! Seems like just days ago that I bought it. (Well,730 days on the 11th anyway!) :D LOL! |
That's right Borderstone, time sure flies by quickly. I had to buy mine twice. :D
