Gord was the first performer at the Gov.General's 50th anniversary party at Rideau Hall in Ottawa. He was solo and sang Sit Down Young Stranger. He had on a powder blue short sleeved shirt that had some sort of swirls in, his black jeans and silver shoes.
He got a great intro from the G.G. and great crown reaction before and after the song. Hopefully he will be back again before the show ends! It was a cool damp evening in OTTAWA - much like here in Toronto - rain earlier in the day. Char |
Yes I saw that as well, I recorded the song into an MP3 via my digital box..... great quality! Will be recording the next one, might just add these two to the Live and Interactive CD I made a while back. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

The second song was If You Could Read My Mind..... he was the last performer for the night.

Wasn't it great? I missed it live but caught it on TV- I thought it was kinda nice that he was the first and last performer- I would think it's a bit of an added way to honour him even (IMHO).
Anybody have any ideas why he chose SDYS? As he said in Songbook it was a bit of a protest song and I wondered if he might be slipping that in again these days post 9-11. A little social commentary maybe? Just curious. Regardless I thought it was AWESOME and I regret not braving the rain (only because I'm planning on heading to TO in nov) And IYCRMM was amazing, as always! |
