I posted this here where it would be seen by the most. Haven't been on much this past week, my one cat Snoopy developed sudden liver failure at the age of 4 years. Had been up almost 18 hrs a day trying to nurse her back to health, despite my best efforts I had to put her down yesterday morning, and I thought putting on Gordon Lightfoot would help me, but I found some of his stuff at a trying time like this just made me feel worse emotionally and it's kind of freaky how some songs take on a phrophetic meaning when yer stuck in the middle of something.

Sorry to hear about Snoopy. You did everything that you could, I am positive.
My female German Shepherd is going through some problems and at one point we were not sure if she was going to make it. It sure is tough stuff to deal with and I feel for ya. I know what you mean about the music. When something major happens to me, the only music that helps me at all is Christian music and mostly praise CD's. The last 2 days that is what I have been listening to. It is the only music that fills me with hope when I need it most. Hang in there Gord! |
My condolences Gord. I just lost my sweet 12 year old kitty, she stretched, fell of the bed and died. It was so sudden that we are still reeling from it. I know what it is like, and my heart goes out to you.

Gee Gord, I am really sorry for your loss. Unfortunately medical science isn't as advanced for our pets as it is for people. I have a dog that is 10 and I dread the thought of losing her. There is nothing I can say to make it better for you, but my thoughts are with you. As far as music when I lost my husband Gord was the only voice I heard (and the drive through liquor store owner), I had made a couple "super tapes" of different types of music, sea tunes, love songs (ballads) upbeat and the quiet and mysterious ones (which are the tapes that I nearly wore out). I hope you find the ones that help you, I do agree that a lot of Gord's songs just don't help with depression and sorrow. I hope you will be okay. Hang in there buddy.

Gord,
Please accept my sincere condolences. Hang in there and give it some time and give yourself a break. Do something special when you're up to it and say that it's in Snoopy's memory. Bill |
Gord, I feel so sorry for your loss. I have had a number of pets, both dogs and cats. My current "boyfriend" is a five year old kitty, I rescued from the local animal shelter when he was about three months old. He is a true blessing in my life, as I am sure your Snoopy was for you. Our pets (especially kitty boys and girls!) are truly angels in fur coats. Time will help you to heal. Best wishes.

I'm sorry to hear about Snoopy. It's never easy loosing one of the fur kids. But I'm betting she had a great life with you. She was loved, fed, played with, and you were kind enough to ease her passing for her. She was a lucky cat to have you. Please be kind to yourself and patient, and know that you did everything right every step of the way.

I'm not to good in these situations but I'll just say that the passing of any living being makes me feel bad. I wish you the best Gord and I know that Snoopy's at peace and in a far better land than we.

Gord, a few months ago I lost Snoop, my Doberman. I'd had him for nearly 11 years. He just stretched out of the floor at my feet and stopped breathing. It was terribly hard to deal with and I found myself crying every time I thought of him. Nothing we can say will make it any easier for you. But take comfort in knowing that it will get easier every day, and in the end you'll think about Snoopy and a big smile will come to your face. You'll remember all the fun times. Hang in there, Cathy |
I've got two cats. Clarence and Natasha are both siamese and members of my family. I admire people that have respect for all life.
I've enjoyed reading everyone's responses to Gord and I can say that some fine people out there are also GL fans. Coincidence? |
Again thanks everyone, I have 2 others cats Oreo and Radar, but Snoopy was a character all of her own. I must have pulled a stomach muscle or something when I was bent over the exam table at the vet crying my eyes out and the physical pain hit Saturday, it really gave me a good idea how sore Gord L's stomach must be and I had no surgery. Trust me I had no idea how many stomach muscles ya use to drive a cab, and how it hurts if ya laugh to hard or sneeze or whatever. It's still a bit sore, so now I can relate to how long it must take for him to recover!

Titan,
I have never met a Gordon Lightfoot fan that I didn't like, all of them are very nice, considerate and genuinely good people. |
Hey Gord...a few years back we had to put down our family Alaskan Malamute. She'd been with us for 13 years and pre-dated the arrival of our son so she was really like our first "child." Unfortunately she became ill and it was truly in her best interest as well as ours to part with her humanely. We all cried our eyes out and vowed no more dogs for a time. My son wanted eventually to replace her with a German Shepherd and I preferred a Sheltie, so we knew there would be a tough decision to make in about a year or so. Then, out of the blue just a little over two months later, God provided us with a new best friend, a stray who sort of wandered into our lives and adoped us on the spot. We searched and searched for her owner and could never find anyone who claimed her. So she became ours and, coincidentally, she was a Siberian Husky, very similar to our former friend. She is still our best friend to this day and has succeeded in spoiling us all. So, you see, things happen in ways we don't always totally understand but they happen for the best and with reason. I'm sure you, too, will soon know that parting with your friend, while difficult, was for the best.
