Does anyone know if Gord collects lapel buttons?
The reason I ask is, in several of early Gord pictures he's wearing a lapel button (or pin if you prefer) and they weren't always the same ones. I couldn't make out what they were. I used to collect lapel pins and buttons for many years. Now I collect coffee cups. Do any of you have a favorite collectible, excluding any memorabilia of Gord? Dinner plates? Spoons? Shot glasses? Baseball cards?
Tell us what your treasures are . . .

I collect, postcards and stamps, photo/picture frames are a passion of mine, photographs, plates, sea shell oriented things, porcelain angels and shells from a co. called Margaret Furlong, comicstrips and books of cartoons that pertain to my kids - i.e. - Calvin & Hobbes, ALF stuff (remember the TV show?), my daughter collects Disney snowglobes and figurines and "treasure boxes".I also have a lot of lapel pins.
I love antiques and odd little collectables I might find at a flea market etc.

Elephants...all shapes, sizes, materials. 247 to date, (not counting jewelry & clothing)But I think I'd trade them all in for a big ol' hug from Gord!

Now Florian,
you know what is next! - another question!
WHY do you collect wild boars!?
We all have reasons for our collecting what we do and I am super curious as to your answer!
Char
Is that a ceramic or porcelain figure?
Mold or carving?
Very ferocious looking!

Hi Florian!
That was a beaut! But what are they saying about it? (LOL)

Everyone,
Those are some interesting collections. How long have you been gathering your little treasures? I started my pin collection while in high school and my cups shortly thereafter. I guess I could also add books. I have paperbacks stacked in every nook and cranny in my room and once a year I have to thin them out and make room for others. The clerk at the secondhand book store knows me by name, I'm there so much!

I also have several collections. I collect doll, not because of their monetary value but because of the expression on their faces. I also collect cup and saucers along with bells.

Geez I forgot about POSTCARDS!

theotterjudy 09-12-2000 02:57 PM

Three guesses......the first two don't count.
(See under Discussion forum, Small Talk, waaaayyy down "A Question for theotterjudy".

But also black and white cats!

I'm swamped at work, but I will come back and comment on the San Diego experience, if there's anything left to add after Janice and Betty and others pretty much said it all, and eloquently, I might add.

BTW, Frank, you're a riot. Keep 'em coming.

Until I can find a wee minute....

You beat me to it on that wild bore one...good for you! You guys are nuts..which is why I guess I feel at home here!

I've been collecting matchbooks and boxes for...oh Lord, it's a very long time...and I have some real real old ones...it's fun to look at them because I only collect ones from places that I've been to so they have
some meaning to me and can call up memories. Recently I had started collecting frogs, starting with one I bought in a shop in Munich where my daughter lived for three years, but then all of a sudden EVERYONE was collecting frogs and they started to get really tacky so I kind of stopped.

I also like cranberry glass, the real thing..
oh, and all things Gord..

There are some pretty interesting collections listed here.

I collect music in all formats. I still have the first 45 I ever got (Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline) as well as my first album. I have held on to the music from every phase of my younger years right through to today's taste (oddly enough, it hasn't changed much). Plus I acquired my father's 45's and albums from the 50's, 60's, and 70's when he went "CD". When I bought my new stereo a few years back, the requirement was that it had to have a turntable as well as cassette and CD players because I still listen to my vinyl stuff. I have over 300 cassettes, Goodness only knows how many 45's and albums, several reel-to-reels (mostly of friends in the local music business where I used to live)and a couple of hundred CDs. And I'm still collecting. I had a friend once who said I had "everything from ABBA to ZZ top" (in keeping with the a to z concept). As far as types of music - I have a little of everything and a lot of some things.

I also collect hobo clowns, Emmett Kelly, Jr being my favorite.
