So many locations are mentioned in Gords songs, wouldn't it be great for us all to get onto a bus and visit some of these places.
We can start in Somewhere USA, take the Carefree Highway, and follow the Golden Sun, pass the Plains of Abraham, onto Niagara Falls, and Toronto, then go north on Yonge Street ( when will they finish these roadworks?..lol ). Soon on our left Georgian Bay appears, way on the horizon we can see seven islands, there's a yacht, spinnaker set, running before the wind, its Silver Heels!.( and on the Spinnaker " a shining knight " ). Further on into North Ontario, pass the Great Lake they call "Gitche Gumee" and Lake of the Woods on our left, we're Alberta Bound, heading towards the "hometown a million miles away". ( the hometeam's still on fire, go !!, Cats and Leafs ). We have lots of days free, what other Lightfoot Location would you like to visit and why ???? Good topic, Ron -
let me have a think. I'll be back. |
You can add two places from "Cabaret" on the Summer Side of Life album:
"If you're driving east to Reno", "or north to Mendocino". I don't want to sound self-centered but geographically speaking it sounds like his starting place was somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I grew up. Either of these places is worth a visit. As for Carefree Highway, it's dirt, desert, cactus and rattlesnakes. Stay ON the bus while going through here. ------------------ |
