The following are the songs Gord played last night in Minneapolis, to the best of my recollection. Sorry I don't have them in exact order, but I'm sure I'm not far off:
"Triangle" "Don Quiote" "Minstrel of the Dawn" "I'll Do Anything" "Heaven Don't Deserve Me" "Forgive Me Lord" "In My Fashion" "Sundown" "Carefree Highway" "Restless" "Never Too Close" "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" 2nd Set: Uncle Toad Blackberry Wine Shadows Nightlife (new) For Lovin' Me/Did She Mention My Name If You Could Read My Mind A Painter Passing Through Canadian Railroad Trilogy Song For A Winter's Night Baby Step Back Make Way For The Lady Early Morning Rain Encore: Cold On The Shoulder I'm sorry if I forgot one (or two), but I'm quite certain I've got them all. Does anyone know the exact order? The crowd was particularly vocal, and Gord was in a playful mood. To a couple who wrote him a letter, he explained why he no longer plays "The Auctioneer" (puts his guitar out of tune) and then proceeded to play "Fitzgerald." He read through a bunch of requests left on stage, and laughed at several. The State allows people to drink beverages during the concert, which seemed unusual to me. But it's a classic old urban theater with ornate detailing. Gord only had one obvious slip (and even then, most people seemed not to notice it) on the last line of "Restless" (one of my favorites). But it was a terrific concert, one of my favorites over the years with him. I saw the CBC special and hope our PBS station plays the American version. Let's hope there is a DVD! |
