A number of people at the 8/4/06 Concord, NH Gl concert had backstage passes and I'm wondering how they got them and if it's something I can do at future concerts....thanks :)

Some people have written and asked for passes to certain venues and others will scout around before the show for Barry Harvey and ask him. Others are always listed I imagine...

Thanks Charlene. If I were to write and request backstage passes (this is a whole new concept to me but one that interests me in this case), how far in advance should I do it?

I am thinking of requesting them for the 4/26/07 GL concert at Town Hall in NYC.

In Concord, a very kind person that I met in the audience, took me (practically by the hand) to the stage door, where we waited to greet GL. It was a wonderful experience and meant a lot to me.

I'd send a ltter off in the beginning of February probably...not too far from the date but close enough for them to see about backstage guests and how many might be there.

No guarantee of any tho!....good luck!

Sometimes I get the impression that folks who do this sort of thing are hesitant to share their methods. Perhaps the fear is that it may get too crowded ?

There was an interesting discussion here some time ago regarding the difference between backstage 'during the show' and backstage 'after the show for meet & greet'.

Years back when I first started reading of folks experiences 'backstage' I thought that this was surely the place to get some 'real' advice. Curiously though whenever a new person asks this old question there is rarely much response.

I guess I sort of expected someone to say something like " Ann I go back there at nearly every single Lightfoot show that I get tickets for so let me help you get there also " . Call me crazy, wouldn't be the first time, LOL.

By the way Ann - my wife and I have tickets to the Town Hall show also. Do me a favor and tell them you'd like to bring a friendly couple (last name Wallace ) back there with you. Couldn't hurt - although a city like NYC has a LOT of people to choose from.

I can only speak for myself but I have never asked any fans or EMP personnel in any way to go backstage at any Lightfoot concert I've ever attended.
My few times going backstage were unexpected gifts for which I will always be thankful.

Some people have written to EMP, others ask at the venue, some are just allowed back...
and many wait at the stage door and meet The Man that way.

Along those lines:
In all my (many) years of theatre and concert-going, it has never before occurred to me to go back stage or even wait at a stage door.

However, in Concord, a very sweet woman who was sitting in the audience near us, (with whom my husband and I had been having pleasant conversation before the concert and during the break) just out of the blue, without us asking for anything, said to us "Would you like to meet GL?" Well, who can say "no" to that? :)

Then she practically took us by the hand and lead us to the stage door where we waited, along with a small group of other concert-goers, to meet the man himself. A special experience and a great memory.

So, yes, Charlene, I agree, I look on this as an "unexpected gift" (that I wouldn't mind repeating) :D
