This is my first day on this discussion forum and I am pleasently surprised. I had no idea there were others as passionate about Gord's music as I. Not only do my friends and aquantinces not really care for Gord but many have not even heard of him! I'm 23 years old and I get to teased alot by buddies who listen to rap or heavy-metal for liking Gord.I am excited to see so many people appreciate the music of Gordon Lightfoot. Looking foward to reading more!

Hey Matty!
Welcome to Lightfootland! You will find sewveral young 'uns like yourself posting here. My daughter is 18 and has been a fan all of her life. When she was younger she really didn't have much choice but she's a huge fan on her own now.... She's taken to telling her friends to call her in 40 years and let her know how the Christina/Britney/rap artist etc. concerts were! ha ha ha! So many of the 'acts' out there in the last few years won't garner the devotion for decades such as Lightfoot nor will those 'acts' be performing any longer...with new material....and thrilling audiences. Some things just transcend time.....and Lightfoot music is one of those things.. Char |
Welcome Matty. Lots to read here, for sure.
Lisa is right Char. Be interesting to see who will be around in 40 years. I just can't imagine Britney at 64 singing "Oops,I did it again" or "Baby, one more time". |
Hi Matt!
Welcome to the group. I think you'll find you're not the only "young" person here. I'm 25 and have been a Lightfoot fan for about 10 years. I'm lucky in the sense that both my parents love Gord and they were the ones who introduced me to his music. Are you planning on attending the Massey concerts this November? It's always a great time and always fun to meet fans from all over the world, especially other young people who love Lightfoot's music. What are your favourite songs? Albums? Have you seen him in concert yet? Kenyon |
