I'm sure everyone has heard of the ABBA musical, "Mama Mia" and Billy Joel has a musical based on his songs, "Moving Out" or something like that. What if they made a musical about Lightfoot's songs? What songs would you pick? What would the story line be like. Probably a romantic musical given a lot of Gord's songs are love songs. Just thought I'd throw this out there and see if anyone has any ideas or would care to speculate.

They did and it, well, let's say the whole wasn't as well received as the parts. It ran briefly in Halifax, I believe, a year ot two back.

I know the reason the Abba & Joel shows work is unlike Gordon, these acts are,by the mess media and music buyers, very well known for their songs and their on stage personas.
Also,ABBA's music is considered to be sort of campy and or kitsch (whatever that word means!) he songs are easy to send up on stage. Billy Joel, appeals to mass audiences, simply put. A lightfoot show could work,it just has to have all the right elements, not just the songs but a good reason for them to be sung. I know nothing of the previous attempt but that could be the case. Or it could just be that gord's songs aren't meant for glitzy broadway typre stage productions. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif Ben me,later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif ------------------ Borderstone, gonna post some lines tonight!:D |
