I'm about ready for another GL album but for the 1st time I don't know which one to get. Can anyone help me out?
I already have:
Gords Gold Vol. 2
Summertime Dream
If You Could Read My Mind
Songbook
Sundown
Gords Gold
What would you get if you were me?

I play my Endless Wire cd alot. It has Daylight Katy, Sweet Guinevere, Hangdog Hotel Room,If There's a Reason, Endless Wire, Dreamland, Songs the Minstrel Sang, Sometimes I don't Mind If Children Had Wings, The Circle is Small. It also has the lyrics in a small book, the back photo cover is great one of my favorites.
Good Luck on your choice you have a lot to choose from. You have six only 13 (almost 14!) to go.

DMD3 undoubtedly IMHO you must get the only live CD "Sunday Concert" either as the Bear Family "Sunday Concert Plus" issue which gives you the great early hit single "Spin Spin" as a bonus or you can get the live album on its own or best of all as part of the complete Canadian 3-CD box set (which would then give you the complete set of the 5 United Artists albums each one as all Gord's 19 original albums a gem IMHO. See earlier topics on this especially my previous recommendation to venture into the world of ebay.
I just had a peek and yes there is at least one 3-CD set on offer now at:-

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...1&category=307

This is being offered by a Toronto outfit who must have a huge pile of these box sets to sell as they seem to be continuously auctioning one for a starting bid/price of $12.93
This one is currently available for the bargain fixed "buy it now" price of only $14.93 plus a reasonable (IMHO)$5.99 shipping and handling (both sums are for the US dollar variety you know the type where all the notes are for some crazy reason exactly the same size and colo(u)r. The great advantage of buying at the fixed price is that you know straight away that you have got it and cannot be outbid.
Go for it I am sure that many here will agree with me. Just think you'll get 5 albums for not much more than the price of one!!!

Dream Street Rose is a nice album...I play it often.

formerlylavender 10-14-2003 10:32 AM

DMD3, you should get Don Quixote. It's a great album - a greatest hits in my opinion.

BILLW 10-14-2003 11:10 AM

DMD3,

Eventually you will own them all and they are ALL worth owning but if you just want to get 1 more at this time I have to agree with formerlylavender, get DON QUIXOTE. A greatest hits album without even trying, it's very very good.

You'd have to save up for it but I'd go with Songbook personally. ...but since that would take some time go for Summertime Dream or Sundown, they're relatively inexpesive. Usually between 5 to 8 dollars. I just got Sunday Concert myself on the 11th. Hearing everything clearly now,I can appreciate it better than the mostly scratchy version I got at Goodwill last year. Mine was only $7.99 + tax. Happy hunting! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif Later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif

but B the man already said he has "songbook" (I assume he meant the 4-CD Magnum Opus and not the earlier 1985? Songbook with tracks from the UA albums)
thus I stand most affirmatively behind my recommendation to get all 5 UA albums at once on ebay without even having to go through the hastle of bidding
re the songbooks: for anyone who doesxnot know what I am talking about
the definitive (1999) songbook also refered to as THE "Box Set" comprises the following:- (the booklet is worth the price of the set on its own IMHO)

SHADOWS (or A Painter Passing Through, so you can hear more of Lightfoot's near-current material).

DMD3 10-15-2003 07:06 AM

I need an album that doesn't have a lot of songs on the songbook. Out of time.

BILLW 10-15-2003 09:32 AM

DMD3,

In that case you should get A Painter Passing Through. Then work backwards until you comlete your collection. Plan your work, then work your plan. Go buy something and let us know what it was.
