Does anyone know the origin of "black day in july"? Is he speaking of a certain event in history? If so what......
Thanks
Spider

"Motor City" in the lyrics is Detroit, Michigan, and the "black day" refers to the terrible riot which broke out in that city on July 23, 1967, one of several racial riots which rocked America during that period. By the time the riot was over, 43 people had been killed.

Spider,

There is a thread from about a month ago that is chock-full of everything you ever wanted to know about the event that Black Day in July is based on.

Just look back about a month or do a search.

Dan
