Those lucky folks north of the US border can set their VCRs to record Canadian Idol on August 18th. According to a CTV release, "Canadian Idol will pay tribute to the songs of two musical legends as part of a terrific line-up of Top 10 shows announced
today by CTV. Music Hall of Famer Gordon Lightfoot and singing superstar Lionel Richie will be featured in two of nine themed shows on Canadian Idol. Both artists will appear on the hit series as they work with the competitors in preparation for their respective shows."

The description for the August 18th show reads: The Music of Gordon Lightfoot - A Canadian legend and national treasure, special guest Gordon Lightfoot appears as the Top 6 pay tribute to this prolific singer/songwriter.

I live in AZ so I shouldn't even say a thing except, waaaaaaaaah! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/frown.gif Speaking of Canadian/American Idol, does anyone,as well as myself, think it's time for a show like this that features people who can actually play an instrument and sing something besides cheesy Dianne Warren or David Foster type songs? I want an American "Folk" Idol (or actualy "hero" would be more fitting.

Maybe searam or Sean could have a hand in something like this. Sean, sean? Are you there? We need some relief from all this "pop n' fresh"!!! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/tongue.gif Been me,later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif

cool news, most who audition are not however several of the current contestants are musicians and budding songwriters and i tip my cap to them for going up on stage all bare without an instrument to clutch onto

last year's winner, Ryan Malcolm was also guitar player/songwriter - dunno about Fantasia or that southern girl or the big guy

i hope these are the 6 left singing GL tunes:

Jason Greeley
Jacob Hoggard
Elena Juatco
Kalan Porter
Kaleb Simmonds
Theresa Sokyrka

they didn't do wussy tunes last night, Steppenwolf, Bryan Adams, Morrissette...well ok, Jann Arden and Anka too http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif

that Manohah(sp) should go down tonight, imo...with that said, she'll probably win, lol
