Does anyone know which singer-songwriters Gord likes? I know he has called Dylan his favorite songwriter, but who else does GL enjoy? Does he like any of his fellow the singer-songwriters of the '70s--James Taylor, Jim Croce, Harry Chapin, Paul Simon, John Denver, John Stewart, Cat Stevens, John Prine, etc? Has he ever been asked in an interview to name some favorites? Just curious.

It would be fun to know what young/newer artists he likes too, respects or feels they have talent.

Aengus Finnan, Jory Nash are two names that pop into my head!
;) as well as Ron Sexsmith....as long as he doesn't do "Drifters" too fast... |

He has mentioned Deep Purple, of course there is Ramblin' Jack, Ian Tyson, Ian and Sylvia, Randy Bachman, Burton Cummings.....

I seem to recall that he liked Ewen MacColl who penned the tune "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face". There were a few other composers he has mentioned which currently escape me. I'll post their names if I can get my synapses to rub their dendrites together long enough to jump start this aging memory.
(perhaps not a 'song writer' but he must have liked Terry Wheelan at some time - at least long enough to make an album with him...) Yuri |
