Thanks Jory. Char and I already have our reservations at Hugh's Room, and it sounds like it is filling up fast!
I had a great time at last years event and "discovered" many artists that I'd not heard before, that are now on my favorites list. Looking forward to seeing you and Aengus again, but not looking forward to that drive! Jenney |

thanks once again to you and Aengus for producing this show for Lightfoot fans (or just any fan of wonderful performing talent)
i can't single out anyone in fairness to this group of artists because i should be gushing at length over ALL who performed and relayed their great tales of Gord but just halfway through Dave Gunning's killer performance of Shadows (joined by Anne Lindsay's superb, haunting fiddle accompaniment) i said to myself "wow, this was SO worth coming" and that was only the 3rd song of the evening, lol http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif i think GL's quiet attendance, also spoke to how much this event means to the local (and beyond) Gord and 'folk' community (how can it be labelled 'folk' after seeing some of those performances, lol) i was also excited to see Jenney Whiteley live for the first time, what a prize she is... because i really think some of the women who i know here should get a chuckle out of the lyrics, here's a shameless (i'm in no way connected to her) plug and give a link to her tune/video of Needle In A Haystack (scroll down a bit to find it) http://www.cmt.com/artists/az/whitel...y/artist.jhtml to come, a lengthy review by char/jenney i'd hope http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif there were still seats for Sunday and standing room (or barstool room, if you're lucky like me and Gord, lol) for tonight last i heard, get over there if you can, not for anyone's sake other than your own http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif edit: and it goes without saying (which is exactly what i did, lol!) how great it was to see char and jenney and to even meet ron jones, from all the way out west!) ...behave http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif btw, here's the website for last minute tix http://www.hughsroom.com/ where there are links to each performing artist's sites also http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif [This message has been edited by jj (edited January 15, 2005).] |

Thanks for all the news and reviews, jj.
This show is one more reason I should be living in Toronto http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif |
my pleasure, bjb...but the 'real' review should be coming from char, when she gets settled...always worth the wait
ps) wish i had heard JP's cd BEFORE the event so i could have asked him a million more questions about his one-man-band production...i've unfortunately only had a chance to listen 2x but it keeps getting even better http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif |

should OR shouldn't be living there?
i think Jenney had Cold Hands From Toronto by the time she left http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif is Edm balmy at this time of year? http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif btw, char and jenney both had fab new hairdos and looked beautiful, and ron jones looked like the coolest-dressed, most beautiful guy you could ever meet (since i'd never met him, i'm not sure if his hairdo was new or not http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif)...and as jenney said, GL looked great, friendly, typical GL flowing hairdo, spiffy footwear with his now typical black jacket which revealed a really funky shirt when he took it off (the jacket that is, relax gals, lol) as well as his wonderful braces (mine were hidden http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif) ...i didn't notice his trousers, so the gals will have to take it from here once they've got their keyboards (and hands!) warmed up again now, i can remember in fine detail what the female musicians were wearing (even from 150' back, where i was hidden, lol) but as far as the guys go, i just remember that jory (aka mr. congeniality, no sarcasm at all there http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif) was wearing a nice hat and handsome aengus had his trimmed beard and not trimmed pony tail ...well, i'm also awaiting setlists like most others ...i was distracted by quirky observations and the odd conversation here and there during the many performances so i'm also anxious to know what i missed and what the gals saw and heard (from only about 10' away! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif) cheers once again to hugh's room, aengus, jory and rachel + the whole cast... and hope to see all in '06 http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif ps) thank you, gord |

Anyway the tribute show sounds like an absolutely fabulous experience. See y'all at Massey! BJ |

What is that in degrees? We had a week last month that it was -36 degrees every stinking day. Sure made it hard to go outside to go to work. Minn. just had -54 degrees. Strange year weatherwise.

What is that in degrees? Apparently it's about 62 below Fahrenheit. The wind chill is what made it 52 below, otherwise it was in the -40s C. No matter how you calculate it, too darn cold! Right now Boulder Dam sounds good (10 degrees and all) |
Which makes me glad that I live in Los Angeles! It was 86 degrees today!
