Don't know how this question will sound but looking at Wayne's site and the TT's album cover there were 4 members I think and not 2. So what's the story on that?

Well Touhy,Gordon and his partner were the two who formed the duo. The other two are either hired musicians or maybe just friends of theirs whom they asked to back them up.
The main point is,the other 2 do not sing,Gord & company do. ;) |

http://www.lightfoot.ca/twotones.gif However once you have the benefit of a larger clearer picture like this http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFOOT/twotones.jpg you can then see that the fourth person seems to be only a shadow of Himself!! Incidentally that is the original vinyl album cover it has been used in a reduced size by those peddling a digitised CD version of which one enterprising fellow at some stage recompiled the CD and added both sides of the Two Tones only single release "Sweet Polly' and its flipside a version of a song from a Cliff Richard movie (called The Young Ones), "Lessons in Love " http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFO...ns_in_Love.jpg one side of the single Note that "Lessons In Love" is not the same song as "A Lesson In Love". Some of you might well be shaking their heads and asking "How come they sang a Cliff Richard song" A question I have often wondered. My best guess is that as the film was issued in 1961 Gord saw it whilst in London at aboot that time and it quite possibly had at the time some pleasant romantic memories for him who knows?!! Just relistening to the recording IMHO the way Gord and Terry Whelan harmonised on it has a certain Everly Brothers feel about it and Gord once told me that The Two Tones used to sing Everly style numbers (which I seem to recall was the reason they were not asked to participate in the first (?) Mariposa Folk festival as they were "too commercial"!! http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFO...t_and_rear.jpg front and back CD inserts of the so-called Two Tones Plus unauthorised CD http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFO...Plus_front.jpg Two Tones Plus modified artwork the third "member" is "Howie Morris who provided acoustic upright bass" OK I see it now Mike you were probably also reading the chronology section on Wayne's site and saw a foursome picture http://www.lightfoot.ca/barbshop.jpg which we diagnosed in an earlier topic at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001778.html was Gord's second barbershop quartet The Teen-Timers John Fowles Then you put your two sweet lips on mine like this And you'll learn the magic of a tender kiss That's the next lesson in love http://spikesmusic-folk.spike-jamie....Lightfoot0.jpg |
