I am both a HUGE Paul Weller fan (as early as his Jam days right up to his solo material) as well as being a massive Lightfoot fan.

It's wonderful to have two of my favourite singer songwriters somehow combined. His cover is lovely. Very Weller, but you couldn't ever have anything but a great cover, for the song stands up on its own. The fiddle being particularly lovely in this version. However I was finally able to hear the BBC program(me) this morning but found that the complete top 40 is not actually played only (allegedly) a selection between 40 and 20 then the complete top 20
so I tried Rona's link which merely produced one of those annoying "this page cannot be displayed-go and get lost" messages
But I resorted to googling for "Paul Weller" and was directed to the exact same URL that Rona posted. His site then opened but features a Macromedia Flash presentation so that although you can certainly see the listing of his album 150's content and see a credit to Gord:-

Being a flash thingie you cannot "save target as" from the link or check the source code to try to see the file's URL
Hopefully it will climb into the top twenty then it will get played

Well, it played for me without any problem. I don't like Flash sites either, but I think your problem must be your computers. If you heard the beginning, then you might get lucky. After almost losing the will to live listening to a mountain of mindless babble, I have tracked down some of PW's version of EMR. Click the above link. Hopefully you will get the chart show as broadcast last Sunday (20th) you can advance in 15 min increments to 1hour 15mins. Then hang on and at about 1h 17m you should hear a portion of said song. Do not try to click forward too quickly as it is prone to jumping back to the start. I warn you it is quite short with a babbling F**L talking over it.

The Paul Weller website offers no help, at least to me.

If you go to http://www.paulweller.com/ and then click on the 'media' icon on the menu bar at the top; the following icons will then appear below the 'media' icon in the same menu bar:

'audio' and 'video'

If you click on the 'audio' link, the page will load up and you will see listings of the songs on the right of the window that you merely just click on and they will play automatically (hopefully). Click on '07. Early Morning Rain' and it should just start playing for you.

but the skipping to the next track consistently happened on all three desktops at my disposal even after rebooting as you suggested.
And Jim when I tried that Radio 1 archive I kept going forwards in 5 minute increments to go past the annoying chit-chat until I heard them play number 20 so assumed that number 40 fell by the wayside. Never mind if the Beeb only played a short bit at least I heard enough on Paul's site to satisfy my curiousity

It's great that Lightfoot's music may be exposed to a new group of listeners, but unless they pursue the songwriter, they are left with a very tepid "cover". IMHO
