Today I auditioned a big box of old VHS tapes to find which to donate and which to keep for transfer to DVD.

I thought I found an unknown gem: I ran across a tape given to me by a Canadian couple on vacation in '86. They'd copied it from Canadian TV. It was the Tribute Concert for Ian & Sylvia.
I had great plans to convert it to DVD and let y'all know about it.

Then a friend told me the concert could be downloaded and enjoyed online.

The site is:

So much for my get rich quick scheme. I was gonna charge each of you a cookie (preferably an Oreo)

Those of you in "Canadia" might have seen this in it's orginal broadcast. It wasn't shown in the US of A.

I've never met Sylvia or seen her and Ian live. The rest of the folks, yes - some more than others. But oh, those two together . . .

And when Gord comes crisply, swagger-stepping out. What a Joy. The whole thing's a Joy.

Ergo, EnJoy . . .

Great link! Incidentally, did anyone notice a change in lyric in "Knotty Pine"? He sings "Where the air is clear as it can be". I Don't think this is the line on the album. He's in great voice here, "Early Morning Rain" sounds great.

Howdy all,

The same friend who sent me the Ian & Sylvia w/ Gord link, sent the following one, which has even more good stuff: The Kingston Trio, John Stewart. Just more good music from good "folk" at a good time - timeless.

Enjoy the Joy,

Rez,

This link led me to a treasure trove of clips of Gordon Lightfoot on the CBC site:

What a joy to watch these clips...music, interviews and expressions! I especially enjoyed the clip "Lightfoot Raps With Vancouver's Youths". Awesome. Thanks so much.

Rez,

Thanks so much. I can do without the white suit(!), but there does not exist a more wonderful voice. I could listen to him every day. Oh wait - I do.

Thanks too for the further link Ms Mouse. I'm on dial up so it took me until this Thanksgiving to download it all. Pass the gravy, wavy.

I tried these links on my IBM Selectric w/ Correct Ribbon, but somebody must have kicked out the plug.

Links is good . . . like Grits is good.
Gritty Links is not good.

Ohhhhhh . . . he's wearing a white suit? Have to take a look at that one. Have this thing about me in tight white pants and white suits, LOL. Can't imagine why that is.
