My wife's sister sent her one of those 'funny' emails of some guy singing about a lost wallet - lo and behold, it was for sure Gord... the voice sounded a little different, but his trademark Gibson was at his side. And the Hawaiian shirt...
He was playing alone to a crowd, singing this song about losing a telephone, an organizer, missing appointments, etc. Anyone know where this came from? Any background? I could not find it in the 'unreleased' section on any of the websites I have visited. Thanks, Landon |

He has a few moments on the guitar where it sounds like a Gord tune or two and he's similar looking to a mid 1970's Gord but that's not Gord.
Funny song tho! |

No, it was one of those 'joke' emails that gets passed around from time to time --- is there a way to post it to the forum for an ID from someone maybe?

Landon,
Try copying and pasting the link or web address in the body of the message here. for example: http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb...c;f=1;t=004759 Bill :) |
I tried it-it's a wmv file sent as an attachment that I can play in Windows media player.
can't copy and paste.. it's not a website address... i was looking on youtube etc. but i have no idea what the hell to look for other than the 'title' of the wmv which is: looking for my wallet and car keys.wmv (2mb) |

All very strange I asked Landon to let me have his file and he emailed me the wmv file as referenced above by CHarlene, it
downloaded OK but two odd things.
than some comedian with a false moustache and what looks like a missing tooth and he is much more puffy cheeked than Gord http://www.gords-wallet.notlong.com So Landon since your original posting did say "the voice sounded a little different" does your original include audio and if so could you resend it to me please as I would dearly like to add it to my GL "funnys" collection and upload it as I told you somewhere for all here to enjoy. alternatively CHar if the copy you received has sound could you forward it to me please? I tried googling for:- looking for my wallet and car keys.wmv Since if it was originally found on the internet it should be a download link somewhere and found no such link. However I did find a blog where somebody claimed "I must spend 1hour per day looking for my wallet and car keys and sometimes even my car!" Finally Landon could you ask your wife to ask her sister for definitive details of this jolly jape's provenance which no doubt she received from somebody else etc a public srvice humour posting from John Fowles Bt P.S. CHar if you would like to upload the file (with a soundtrack)yourself let me know and I'll set up a suitable free website for you at http://www.fileave.com, who offer completely free 50 MB websites with no banners and the files are hot linkable, and their arrangements feature a particularly easy to use File Manager/file uploader wonderful [ July 19, 2007, 09:10: Message edited by: johnfowles ] |

I did I "saved target as" and expectantly launched the wmv file thus obtained which I note is exactly the same size as received from
Landon by email at 2,551,808 bytes. i was not therefore too surprised to find that your copy CHar also had absolutely no sound as it would have to be a larger file to accomnodate he sound component as well as the viewable video part I had said and I quote myself upload the file (with a soundtrack)yourself so can only assume that you also only received a silent movie: Landon your shout!! John Anyway congratulations CHar on creating a free ripway web site, all it now needs is an index page so I'll send you a PM about that later [ July 19, 2007, 13:38: Message edited by: charlene ] |

For those of us of a, er, certain vintage, it's a hoot. Wish I knew who it was - he looks vaguely familiar in a non-Gord way.
------------------------------------------------ I found the lyrics (below) under the title "Modern Day Yuppie Blues" (aka "The Remember Song"): Looking for my wallet and my car keys, Well they can’t have gone too far; And just as soon as I find my glasses I’m sure I’ll see just where they are. Supposed to meet someone for lunch today, But I can’t remember where Or who it is that I am meeting: It’s in my organiser ~ somewhere. I might have left it on the counter; Maybe outside in the car. Last time I remember driving Was to that Memory Enhancement Seminar. What's that far-off distant ringing and that strangely familiar tone? Must be the person I am meeting Calling me on my brand new cordless ‘phone. I might have left it under the covers, Or maybe outside on the lawn; And I’ve got just one more ring to go Before my answering machine kicks on. *Click* “Hi, this is Tom and your call means a lot to me, So leave a message at the tone And I’ll do my best to try to remember To call you back when I get home.” *Beep* “Tom, this is Gwendoline, and I am trying not to cry But I’ve been waiting here for over an hour ~ I thought you loved me. This is goodbye!” Hell, the voice sounds familiar, And the name it rings a bell. Let’s see now, where was I? Oh well... ------------------------------------------------ Aha! Tom Rush. See YouTube: Notes: Tom Rush (www.tomrush.com) sings "The Remember Song" - written by Steven Walters and used with permission. Recorded at Humphreys By The Bay, San Diego, CA., this performance appears on Judy Collins' "Wildflower Festival" DVD and CD and is available from Toms website at http://tomrush.com or iTunes [ July 19, 2007, 11:46: Message edited by: Auburn Annie ] |

A brilliant find Annie that's Tom Rush for sure in Landon's video. but do tell if you clicked on CHar's link did you immediately get a file that played with sound also as my downloaded file from both that link and Landon's email are resolutely completely silent. I am now going to do the patient thing and click the link then wait until my stoopid dial-up has fully bufferred the video file and see what I get
brb. Well give my cretinous dial up 30 minutes to do what takes those more fortunate 0 seconds dammit and Char I insist that the files I have so far downloaded ARE absolutely soundless |
