In the song "The Watchmans Gone", who exactly is the Watchman? Is it about a police officer at a train station or something?(I haven't given this song much thought until very recently, so forgive me if this sounds dumb)

We kind of gave this the roundabout once before. Our Watchman had cracked the code. Do a search on Watchman's gone and I think it will come up. It was within the last year I believe. Al?

Thanks for bringing that topic back up. I never would've guessed that was who the watchman was in the song. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

don't forget that's an "unofficial" interpretation -- it could be anyone's guess

The watchman is the person who works the railroad yards in days gone by that made sure people would not jump train while the train was re fueling or stopped for the night. Listening to an old interview from Gord he talks about his desire to always jump and ride a freight train like the hobos use to do but never did. He mentions how he got the idea about the watchman kicking people off the train and disrupting their dreams of travel.
