My wife heard an interesting remake of Fitzgerald this week on XM Radio. When the lyrics got to the "rang 29 time" part, the artist named each of the crew an you heard a church bell ring. Had anyone else heard this or have more information? I'd love to hear it. :)

Hi,
That is a recording by Brian Burns on his latest CD "Heavy Weather". All the other songs are original and he plays all of the instruments on the CD which he recorded himself. Very talented guy that lives in the Ft. Worth area. You can check him out at: brianburnsmusic.com

Thank you Steve for that pointer: all very interesting but one small point and info for anybody else trying to give links on these forums:-
if you simply type in as you did:-
brianburnsmusic.com
the UBB syytem does nothing with it
you must help it by showing a genuine complete URL in this case
hTtp://www.brianburnsmusic.com/
It will not necessarily guarantee success though because I found that that site's default opening page proved reluctant to open
and I had to resort to googling for "brian burns"
and finally found something worth reading at:-
http://www.brianburnsmusic.com/lsh_default.htm
and even then only the google cached page would initially open.
this is a page headed:-
"L o n e S t a r H i s t o r y"
with a nice logo
http://www.brianburnsmusic.com/images/lsh_001.gif
There I read:-
"Multiple award-winning Texas song stylist and balladeer Brian Burns "
and "Brian Burns is one of Texas' premier singer/songwriters.
His masterful weaving of Texas music and Texas history has earned him awards
such as Texas Artist Of The Year,
Texas Solo Artist Of The Year,
and Record Of The Year"
I also reached:-
http://www.brianburnsmusic.com/bbm_default.htm
where the music menu link goes to a menu which includes a "Fitz" link to:-
http://www.brianburnsmusic.com/hw_song_14.htm
which shows the regular Fitz lyrics albeit initially for me in an almost unreadable black on dark blue which eventually changed to an orangy background
John Fowles
that good ship and true was a bone to be chewed when the Gales of November came early.

Strange I must have heard the wreck hundreds of times but I did not recognize the expression "bone to be chewed"

If you are in north Texas and want to see Brian for free, he's playing tomorrow, Sat 4 Feb, at Bills Records and Tapes in Richardson. He'll be there at 3pm and there is no charge. And they have free beer too!! If you need directions, let me know at skimple@juno.com.

The page reached through John's last link also has a link to an MP3 clip of Mr. Burn's rendition of The Wreck...sounds like he does a great job with it.

Absolutely correct Sharron.I had hoped to find an mp3 clip but I missed the link to "mp3 extract" yesterday because I was put off by the initial showing of the page where today again it starts off as unreadable black text on a darkish blue background. Once it clicks into a lighter background you can then see the mp3 link at the top the file downloads as hw_song_14.mp3it is only 762KB and runs for 48 seconds. It is interesting to hear another rare interpretation although Brian sticks very closely to the feel of Gord's original

John Fowles
the clip starts at the ice water mansions verse pity it was not of the part where he names the crew
