that version from a bad called Elwood.
BTW, since you're in Australia, have you heard Ed Keupper's version of it?? |
I had bought Elwood's CD for Sundown, and I have noticed that he added extra lyrics. Does anyone have the lyrics to how Elwood's rendition goes? Or does anyone know/understand Elwood's lyrics, because I have been trying to figure them out and even the first verse is tough.

Elwood-Sundown Well I can see her lie back in her satin dress In a room where you do what you don't confess She was a high pocket, bubblin, movin in the oven and Turn potato, turn potato, B what's the deal Sometimes I rhyme slow, sometimes I rhyme quick When it's time to get busy out the hat comes a trick So when the sun goes down, you better take care If I find you been creepin round my back stair Sundown you'd better take care If I find you been creepin round my back stair She's a queen, lookin mean, in a sailor's dream She gotta come clean, gotta say what she means She gotta fess up, you is it dress up, oh indeed And tell 'em how it is, babe bring 'em up to speed Sometimes I rhyme slow, sometimes I rhyme quick When it's time to get busy out the hat comes a trick It's a shame when a game leaves you out the frame It's the lovable, the sin, that's losin in the rain Sometimes I think it's a shame When I get feelin better when Im feelin no pain See I could picture every move that a man could make She took steps, she fell in love, and that's your first mistake You went home, got woed, but you shimmyed up the wrong way And the sun's going down and I feel like it's my last day Sundown you'd better take care If I find you been creepin round my back stair And sometimes I think it's a sin When I feel like Im winnin when Im losin again Yo yo, sometimes the sounds is just more reliable She let her hair down, make a frown, sat across her florist At a big city at a clip my mind's on a trip Day by day the sunshine soakin in a warm bath in the sunlight sunlight I can see her lie back in her satin dress In a room where you do what you don't confess Sundown, sundown, sundown I can picture every move a man could make Get lost, fell in love, that's your first mistake Sundown, sundown, sundown Yeah she was looking fast in the faded jeans She's a hard lovin woman, gotta know what I mean She stepped up in the spot, she made the spot hot Give it away, give it away, yeah! And sometimes I think its a shame When I get feelin better when Im feelin no pain And sundown you'd better take care If I find you been creepin round my back stair And sundown you'd better take care If I find you been creepin round Find you been creepin round my back stair And sometimes I think it's a sin (Im losing again) When I feel like Im winnin when Im losin again Im losing again www.ultimate-lyrics.de |

There is a video of Elwood's version of sundown. It takes place in the wild west days and in an old fashioned bordello.
www.elwoodonline.com - i think the video and behind the scenes video is at his site. Char |

IHi I am in Austraila and in the Norther Terr of Alice SPrings Amazing Gina yesterday morning was the great CBC Gord interview which you may or may not have heard the interviewer Sheila somebody in Toronto actually told Gord that she had received an e-mail that very morning from a Canadian girl in the Alice who recounted an amazing evening listening to a folk singer who when she requested a Gord song obliged by singing one then went on to singing Lightfoot for the rest of the evening!! One of my remaining ambitions having seen most of Europe and Canada and all but a handful of the States is to go from Adelaide to Alice Springs on the Ghan. I have been impressed with that idea realy ever since reading my all-time favo(U)rite novel "A Town Like Alice" by the great English novelist Nevil Shute and seeing the gorgeous Australian mini-series. My wife and I are members of a New Jersey chapter of a Shute society and are off on Friday to attend a meeting in Cape Cod. Some of the others who wiil be there were in Portsmouth England back in July for a Gathering at which the Mayor of Alice spoke. A very good friend in England who happens to be not only a Lightfoot fan but also descended from a First-Fleeter will probably retire home in a few years and we pledged that one day we will ride the Ghan together Sorry to be boring most Lightheads So what is this "Ghan":- there is a nice site at:- http://www.gsr.com.au/ghan/ I was also yesterday looking at the Alice Springs town site:- http://www.alicesprings.nt.gov.au/ Some very nice pictures I especially liked the one showing the "The Todd River in flood through Heavitree Gap" (presumably a rare occurrence??) http://www.alicesprings.nt.gov.au/gr...s/ALICESP3.JPG cheers John Fowles ------------------ My Gordon Lightfoot webring starts at http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot [This message has been edited by johnfowles (edited October 01, 2003).] |
