Here's something crazy to try for people with too much time on their hands: make GL sing a duet with himself on your computer. This should only be attempted by those of you who have either lost your mind, or are in the process of losing it and would like to complete that process a bit sooner. Normal people should now click the "BACK" button on your web browser. Others, proceed.
If you've got Windows Media player and another audio player, like RealPlayer (a CD player could work too), then you can play a Gord's Gold song simultaneously with its counterpart from the United Artists recordings. Of course, the tempos of the recordings are usually slightly different, but the duet works at least partially for most of the songs I've tried. The one that works the best so far is "Song For a Winter's Night." 1967 Lightfoot sings in unison with 1975 Lightfoot pretty well! It's eerie! Although partway through the song, one of the Lightfoots gets ahead of the other one, so you have to pause one of the players for a split-second, until the other Lightfoot catches up. You have to really listen to figure out which Lightfoot is ahead of the other one, so that you know which player to pause. I find that bearded lightfoot (Gord's Gold) lags behind more often, as he is more self-assured and is prone to take things at a more leisurely pace. We're talking split-seconds though, mind you. Making them sing in perfect unison is difficult, and you will probably feel like admitting yourself to an insane asylum after trying awhile, but it's pretty cool if you can get them in the correct timing. Try it--you WILL regret it!!! |

Winters Claw, you've got to be a crazy person to attempt such a thing! And speaking of crazy...
After I got Gord's Reno DVD I tried watching the DVD with the sound down while trying to "match" his voice with his original recordings. Why? I'm a sick, sick pup. TC |

Gord's Gold versions were way more studio produced than the originals.

Oh gosh,Mac Davis! :D  The poor man's Tom Jones! :D
"Oh Lord,it's hard to be humble, when your perfect in every way!" "You know it's hard to be humble,'cause I get better lookin' each day!" LOL! :D or how about..."Baby,baby don't get hooked on me!" I think he made a better actor than a singer. I see used copies of his "Stop & Smell The Roses album in cheap-o thrift stores everywhere! |
