Hi....it seems like only last night I was at the Tulalip Amphitheater watching Gordon and band perform. Wait it was only last night. That's what getting stuck in I-5 traffic for apparent hours will do for your sense of time.
First of all, the setting was fabulous...it really is a great venue and the weather was perfect. With a beer garden in the back, grass underfoot, and a vacant pair of seats in front of me...what more could you ask for? It was a very solid show...Gord was strong in voice...though my wife declared it wasn't until the fourth song, In My Fashion, that he hit his stride. (my wife's a critic though) As the sun went down, Gord had to don a pair of sunglasses so that, as he put it, he wouldn't get sunburned eyelids. Thanks to Ticketmaster, we were a long distance away, but he looked very cool. A couple of comments he made might be worth noting. First he introduced "If You Could Read My Mind" noting that it "broke first in Seattle" (to a great roar). He went on to comment on being both sleepless and broke in Seattle. (chuckles from my wife) Later on, Gord was thanking people for coming out to...."Wait a minute" he said...then he checked with Rick Haynes to find out exactely where he was. That brought forth a great laugh too. A couple who came down with us hadn't seen Gord before and they were very impressed. A great relaxed concert; very fun. And six weeks to go to Vancouver! Set list: 1) Triangle 2)Cotton Jenny 3)14 Carat Gold 4)In My Fashion 5)Clouds of Lonliness 6)A Painter Passing Through 7)Never To Close 8)Ghosts of Cap Horn (we might not have heard this one because it was written for an educational film!, Gord said) 9)Beautiful 10)Carefree Highway 11)Hang Dog Hotel Room 12)Sundown 13) Wreck... Intermission 14) Sit Down Young Stranger....most of this was done solo 15)Let it Ride 16)Rainy Day People 17)Shadows 18) Waiting For You 19)Make way for the Lady 20)If You could Read My Mind 21)Don Quixote 22)Canadian Railroad Trilogy 23)Baby Step Back 24)Bitter Green 25)Old Dan's Records 26) Early Morning Rain prefaced by a little discussion on the "Boeing 707!" That was it....Gord was in great form! |

Ahem ahem Richard me lad.
I am somewhat surprised that you decided to start a new Tulalip topic as I had one already going at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb...072;p=1#000000 (a topic to which you had already replied). to refresh your memory I had gone to inordinate lenghs to try to get a picture of the venue and had had to settle for a screenshot made from the revolving picture display on their site:- http://h1.ripway.com/johnfowles/lightfoot/tulalip.jpg another Native American casino venue apparently I now see that there is in fact a tempting and lage circular "pic" link on the tulalip tribal amphitheatre site but it opens:- http://www.tulalipamphitheatre.com/events.aspx which has links to pix from 4 recent events there but not Gord (as yet anyway) Quote:

John, you are so right; I had forgotten that wonderful shot that you posted. If you look about three quarters of the way back, EXTREME left and you will almost see ('best available") my wife and I.
The shopping was great...I got away with nothing more than an "Outside" magazine and two dozen beer at the duty free store on our way back. As for my wife, I'm afraid to ask.... she was gone a long time and the trunk seemed awfully full. Ah, that's ok. Nothing could diminish the pleasure of a great Lightfoot show! |

another concert in 6 weeks and then 6 weeks after that Massey....I hope you get some help unloading that trunk.
Nice to see Hangdog Hotel room is still in the lineup. and Bitter Green. thanks for the review and the set list - nicely done. |
You are most welcome, Ms. Brink!
Yes, the filled trunk did rather push up the price of the Lightfoot show, but hey, a deals a deal and forty bucks is forty bucks...though I think the shopping came to a lot more than that! |
