Yesterday or was it Tuesday I thought I would phone Gaby baby in Leicester Leicestershire England because she had not been posting here for a long time. I was able to cheer her up with the good news about Massey next May and the Peterborough
appearance and left her happily about to get on with phoning silverheels with a view to coordinating their flight to Canada.
I was able to fill her in on some of the events and postings here and was pleased to see that she posted a reply to one topic
today. She also (probably because she has not yet found my initial tutorial attempt) joins the list of those who have yet to get to grips with the simple technique for displaying pictures here because in my inbox today I found a picture and a plea for help posting it:-
"Hi, John,
Here's my hottest photo of Gord. Bought it on eBay a few months ago.
I don't have the time or the energy to upload it to a photo website.
Maybe you could give it to the girls at Corfid as a pressie from me.
Just too tired at the mo."
I have duly uploaded it to Sidney's site http://groups.msn.com/TheHomePageOfGordonLightfoot
and made a notlong URL
http://www.picturefromgaby.notlong.com

I have both pix of the younger Gord and very nice they are too.
And the more mature Gord ... Bless!

LSH 09-02-2004 06:13 PM

Hey Gaby, this girl thanks you!
superb photo....

Gaby 09-03-2004 07:02 PM

Thanks, John!!!!

I think I'd rather like to see the beard back as well, Sue.
..... mmm..... and those gorgeous curls with the tendrils at the neck - hey, Brink???

"Sitting alone, my friends have all gone home
You never know when they'll come droppin' in
Thinking of girls with their fingers in my curls
Too young to understand how love begins"

I think the curls are gone forever but I vote for the beard, too.

Oh! I don't know, Annie.
A perm and some blond highlights....???? http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

LSH 09-03-2004 08:39 PM

One night on idol, his hair was curling up in back http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

violet Blue Horse 09-03-2004 09:10 PM

Ya know, I've been thinking the same thing. Lighten the color up a little, get rid of the red please, and a loose perm with a little more layer to the hair and definitely the beard. But then we'd have to work on his wardrobe too, though I kind of like the suspenders trend he's got going on. Could do without the hawaiian shirts though, please. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif

Yeah! Violet's got the right idea.
A bit of thickening mousse on the hair, as well.
Get rid of the ribbed, knitted collar and cuffs on the leather bomber jacket. In fact, GET A NEW JACKET (Leather's OK 'tho, - that's always pretty sexy). A lot of us have grown up with this guy and don't want him to change toooo much.
My husband expects me to stay thin, sexy and blonde and still hold down a full-time job, so I really don’t see why we shouldn’t expect the same of our Men! (Except, of course, they’re fat, sexless, bald and retired.)

Tyler 09-03-2004 11:43 PM

Hey Gaby, I agree. I do miss that beard too.

Yeh, I'm with Violet too. Maybe we should send him on that tv show where they give make-overs? I love him to pieces but his sense of dress has always left much to be desired. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

That's Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and yeah, Carson would smarten him up in no time flat. Or maybe you mean "What Not to Wear"?

Black jeans, a new (or gently broken in) leather jacket, maybe a denim work shirt (sleeves rolled up for playing guitar), a little color around the face - maybe a knotted neckerchief in red?? Or maybe, dare I say it, canary yellow??

I had a sneaky suspicion that I wouldnt be alone regarding the beard idea.

Lets face it, beards give men a rugged & sexy look.

However, he should lose the suspenders.
I have never seen Sean Connery or Kris Kristofferson wearing suspenders in public....nor Tony Bennett for that matter.
But they probably have significant others who know how to dress them well.

IMHO: It's okay to wear them around the house or grocery shopping but not on stage.

Auburn Annie 09-04-2004 09:49 AM

I agree with Sue. Ditch the suspenders.

I have a brother who's fond of wearing red suspenders with his business suit (he's a lobbyist for a teachers' union). Between that and his Geraldo hair and bandit mustache he cuts quite a figure in Albany (to my sister-in-law's despair). He HAS cut back on his overall shagginess, though.

Back to Gord ... he can be comfortable and still look real good. If, like many men, he hasn't a clue as to what suits him, he has only to ask a trusted tailor, or a friend with good fashion sense. I'd hate to think we have to take up a collection for the guy and send along a copy of the Men's Fashions section of the New York Times, or whatever men's mag (GQ? - I'm so out of touch here) covers what to wear.

I don't think he's trying to make a fashion statement with the suspenders; maybe it's just a matter of holding the pants up, LOL. Suggestions from male Lightheads??
