Tickets for Reno (Sparks) go on sale tomorrow :D :D :D . My family think I,m totally crazy, but I'm going to all three nights. See you in September Gord!!!

That's easy Cat-tail. 1 concert,my first,on Tuesday:August 6th 2002 at the downtown Dodge Theatre here in Phoenix,AZ.

Made a whole day of it,concert started about 7:30pm. Gord kicked it off with "Don Quixote" and went through some I knew (and at the time) some I wasn't familiar with yet but i like the way they sounded.

He took his obliged intermission, which caught me off guard, for I'd never been to a show where one stops in the middle & comes back later. He played his 2nd set,by which time I had left my 10th row seat and moved down to row #2,where i could actually clearly see it was him.

After the show, myself and 30 others got autographs outside the rear of the theatre and (like most there)got to shake hands with him and talk to him for a few. :)

I wish he was coming to Phoenix this time around but no such luck this year. I could not even get away to Vegas. :( Hopefully those scenario's change for me soon. Been me. Later!

I thought I was a "senior citizen" with around thirty concerts (the first being in 1970) but after reading what people are saying on this website, I find I'm nowhere near the senior stage. Maybe just a teenager. All things considered, I don't mind thinking youth!

Well All Right.
All the more reason Mende for you to immediately start saving for Massey November 2006.Peter Treloar has already said on the Newsgroup that he intends to come from Melbourne to Toronto and (catman)ron Chidgey knows he won't get away with empty promises in the chatroom next time. Plus I reckon those two Sydneysiders Steve and Gunter need to be thinking likewise so that there might just be enough of you to arrange for your own private executive jet hire. who knows by then there might well be a supersonic bizjet available so no excuses. To answer the question for me personally my number one concert was Montreal in May 1967 then two each in 1968 and 1969 then 1972 and 1981 in London then three at Massey 1999 one in CT 2000,1 in Princeton NJ in 2001, 3 at Massey 2001, 4 in NJ and PA in 2002 two at Hamilton in 2004 (i.e. 21 to the end of 2004, then this year (so far) 3 in SoCal and 3 in Las Vegas then 2 at Massey 2005 so 29 to date, and to come later this year 2 in PA ,1 or 2 in MA,1
in Maine, 1 in NYC then 1 in NJ (i.e. 6 or 7 to come) to so that will make it a grand total by the end of 2005 of a mere 35 or 36 every one so far without exception magnificent and highly enjoyable
John Fowles
Then I said, "Now what do you see," she said, "deedly-dum, deedly-dee"
"Your are so old, your are so wise, deedly-dum, deedly-die"

As many people know ('cos I keep whingeing ), I have seen no concerts. I was only 15 in '74 when he toured Sydney , lived in the country then and wouldn't have been able to name a GL track at the time.
John , my best chance of attending in November 2006 is to murder my ageing parents in law for an inheriance but if they die suddenly this post may be considered powerful circumstantial evidence linking me to the crime. Would "Massey Hall Lightfoot attendance" be considered an extenuatiing circumstance as a defence to murder and lighten my sentence do you think ?

My first concert was July 8, 1979,in North Tonawanda,NY at Melody Fair(thanks to the wonderful tour schedule found on this website). I had the year and the approximate date, but couldn't remember for sure when it was. Gord wore a two piece blue jean outfit. Jean jacket with a pink embroidered rose and matching bell bottoms with a pink rose on the bottom. My next one was, ahhhhh in April 2002 in Williamsport, PA. TOOO Long between, but i had tickets for someplace in Ohio (can't remember) and then he took ill. I'm going to Glenside, PA in August. Can't wait!!!!

The Rez 05-31-2005 09:20 PM

First concert The Golden Bear, Surf City, CA then The Troubador in LA. in 65 or 66.

At least once a yr after that ('cept 2 yrs out for The Army.) Endless Wire days he and full band took to the timy stage at The Troubador to benefit that wonderful mainstay for so many folk.

Never though to add 'em up. Gord's one of those few (Brother Ray, John Stewart) who fit the category of "countless."

The Rez,

It's funny to think about, since he's so important to me, but I really don't know how many concerts I've been to. The first was in Cleveland in 1973 when I was a junior in high school. All the rest have been in Northern California-small venues, huge venues. All magical, as I sit there and think, "He's actually right there in front of me!"

He's by far my favorite performer but I too cannot say for sure how many of his concerts I have attended. The first one was in San Jose CA in 1972. The most recent one was in Cerritos CA this past April. Over that 33 year span, I would guess I have seen him maybe 15 or 16 times. I never thought to catalog the concerts, too busy enjoying the man's musical genius!

Cat Tail: I'm going to Sparks, Nevada (near Reno) -- Sept. 16 and 17 -- see you there! I've been calling for 20 minutes... now I have to wait another hour, as the casino has decided they're not selling his tickets today. Hrmpf! So, I'm calling a ticket agent and NOW I have to wait another 45 minutes. But, in the meantime, I could have bought tickets for GL's show at the Masonic temple in San Francisco. I said, "Can't I get tickets for his next venue?" "No, you have to call back at 10:00 a.m.!" Rats..... <sigh>... <SIGH>.... O.K., I'm waiting....<tapping fingers>...<tapping toes>.....<sigh>.....

TheWatchman 06-01-2005 08:51 PM

11 or 12 times so far. I saw first saw him in 1993 in Chautaqua, NY when WFY was released.

Rebecca 06-01-2005 11:25 PM

Sheryl,
I just ordered tickets for 9/16 and 9/17.
I can't wait to meet you!

I've lost count but I know I have seen him in at least 4 different cities in two different states over a span of 30 plus years. The one I remember most was in the Bay area, either Berkeley or San Jose, and he performed Sundown for the first time just before it was being released. He did it sans a drummer and swore that he needed to get a drummer to tour with him. I knew immediately it was going to be his next hit.
Each one has been magical to attend.

Sheryl, since you're going all over to see the man, how about Villa Montalvo in Saratoga in September? I know Kimberly's got tickets, too. C'mon! It would be fun!

Hey, Rebecca, it'll be nice to meet you! I have front row (table seating, actually) seats, Friday and Saturday nights for Sparks, Nevada.

Rona, my husband is going to absolutely pitch a fit when I finally tell him what this Nevada trip is going to cost. Seems you can't get there from here. Not non-stop anyway. I have to stop somewhere else first. Damm. For all the moola I'm putting out, I shoulda gone to Massey. Holy Heck. Well... all I can say is, sorry, no can do Saratoga.

Anyone else going to Sparks? We need to start a new thread for this.
