This morning, I wrote to Linus Entertainment to ask what TV networks to watch to see Gordon's video for "Inspiration Lady." Geoff Kulawick, Linus Entertainment CEO, replied. (Now, that's the personal touch -- the CEO actually writing responses!) See Geoff's response below.
I think we should do as the CEO suggested and request VH1 to play it. Let's help Gord have a successful and warm, welcoming return after his surgery. What better way is there to support our man than to request his video be played? I'd be happy with 24-7 playing time, but that is a bit too optimistic. I think I just posted the first message to VH1's "Gordon Lightfoot Message Board." I found Gordon's board only after doing a search of "Lightfoot." He wasn't listed in the main artists section. I didn't see any "contact" button or "request" button to request that VH1 play his video, so I'm not sure where to go from here. Has anyone here ever requested that a particular video be played on VH1? If so, to what address did you write? TIA. Loveya,Gord Below is Geoff Kulawick's response to my email: Hi, got your message, you should be able to stream the video from iTunes next week, as well as see it from various lightfoot websites shortly thereafter, but if you could start requesting VH1 to play the video, and get as many lighfoot fans as you know to do the same, thatd help us to convince them to play it!! VH1's headquarters are located at 1515 Broadway, New York, NY, 10036. Letters should probably be sent to the attention of Video Promotions (sorry - haven't got a name). Still looking for an email address.

If you want VH1 (or even MtV 2 to play Gords video,I'd write to the above address and send in c/o the program director. Just like radio stations, music video has them too.
On a lightly different note,VH1 wrote a brief summary on their site about GL,saying his lack of popularity after the '70s was because the rock crowd didn't appreciate his MOR style which made him kind of obsolete. (I'm paraphrasing.) First of all,he wa never a darling of the rock scene or crowd to begin with! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif As for his decline in popularity in the 80's...there are very few popular 70s things you can name that continued on into the '80s. Just about all that was popular and what the decade represented were kicked to the curb after 80/81. I don't think VH1 knows what they're talking about in that respect. Been me,later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif ------------------ Borderstone, gonna post some lines tonight!:D |
