Yes, it was. As with so many of them, the original featured fewer instruments and had an overall 'cleaner', more acoustic sound, which I like.

I strongly recommend picking up the United Artists 2-CD set, to get an idea of how most of those songs were originally conceived. I don't think I have ever played any CD as much as I have played that UA collection.

the original was a bit more upbeat, had better vocals and as said, a more acoustic sound.

i.e. it was better
