Aengus Finnan, Jory Nash & Terry Tufts (alpha order) performed Gord tunes plus their own comps individually and as a trio

a sold out crowd or 160 folk folks cozied into Milton Bible Church - great sound, comfy seats & good cookies and coffee:)

i recall many stories told during song intros but will supress them and hope you get a chance to take them in yourself one evening and hear for the first time...jory is touring the USA in april and hopefully this trio makes it's rounds across the continent together or as solo again in the near future...they are all well-seasoned professionals

as show opened, jory addressed the audience saying something like 'I'm not sure if each of you is religious or not, but as we sit here gathered at this venue we can most certainly all agree that "There is a GOrD" :) ' lol ... wit was flying around all evening

i can't remember set lists the way Char and other can but many of the tunes are still in my head, here's some in fuzzy order:

race among the ruins - the guys sounded really good as they and the mix settled in, terry knows his way around those frets

mother of a miner's child - jory, in my opinion this should have been on the Borealis Gord tribute CD - love his phrasings

edmind fitz - aengus, great delivery with jory harmonies added tastefully - love the dymnamics, especially second last verse

long way back home - one of my fave tune, terry did not disappoint...outstanding

king of the dust - jory's well researched and self-penned composition inspired by Yukon gold rush, we all hung on every word

rolling home - a really cool aengus composition, i should play his second cd more often, still haven't got tired of his first gem

toboggin song - wow, i've seen terry play and sing his energeitc, witty tune before but it just keeps getting better and funnier!

summerside of life - jory lead the trio, nice harmonies, i mostly liked the laid back tempo of many of their GL arrangements

early mornin rain - aengus, ditto to above, wish these were recorded...wonder how long my old brain can retain the memory

for lovin me - terry's wonderful version, this is on the GL tribute cd, i enjoyed this uptempo performance, but love either really

black velvet elvis + hear (i think that was the title, it had a lovely chorus singalong) - two of terry's original tunes, loved them

fly away + lately - two of aengus self-penned gems, the former is powerful stuff...the cd or this raw version of 'lately' =superb

spaz loves weezie + goin down to town - great wit/stories to intro to these brilliant jory tunes - btw, great song intros by all

cotton jenny - great fun, once again, loved the tempo, crowd singalong here which even i accept when it's a lovin tribute gig

miguel - aengus just a jj fave gord tune justice & then some! terry added superb licks, jory continued to add tasty back vox

mountains and maryann - wow, never a big fan of this tune but terry converted me, his 12 string playing & vocal passion A+

CRT - mind blowing work again by terry and the boys added wonderful backups, you could feel the gord love at a high here

probably played even more stuff but encored with alberta bound, steel rail blues and the traditional rich man's spiritual finale

locals or GTA folks in this group might want to pursue more info about this fine folk concert series, hugh's room northwest:)

it's a labour of love for Rose, who puts alot of effort into coordinating this all - many thanks to this trio for a cherished evening

it was just a bonus to arrive home late and see char's wonderful GL interview posted - it was a tre-Gord weekend for us here

I am so jealous JJ!!! What a superb evening, I wish I was there. I would love to hear Jory do Miner's Child. Let see, if I can figure out a way to get them to Colorado, they could stay at my house, and.............

Knew I should have stayed in Ontario a little longer. What an amazing show and to think that I missed being there. Sure sounds like quite the little vibrant folk community up there Milton way. Fitzy,funny you should notice that name with in Gord's name,just be careful not to put Gordon on that high a pedestal. ;)

no Fitzy, there's never a bad show or bad time when Gord tunes are being played by those who appreciate a good song, or even better if they're throwing in some of their own stuff:)

check out Jory's tour, Deb..not sure if he's coming near you, my US geog stinks...in the meantime there are some cool CD's out there from each of the guys, don't think Miner's Child is on any ...yet;)

RJ, cool, yes, I know of acoustic harvest and wow, that's quite a night ahead packed with similar roster that you'll find in the folk circuit at Hugh's Room or NW of the city, especially Guelph but here's many folk pockets outside the GTA, Ottawa valley, out east, west and throughout the continent...check out Val's links and mailinglist

actually, RJ did some spontaneuos sweet busking for me a few weeks back, but hey, i forgot to leave $5 in his guitar case! it was a great gab;)
