It seems like the past two albums have had no fade outs and "Only Love Will Know" from the Waiting For You album has been the only fade-out I can think of since the East of Midnight album.

I don't listen to a lot of other music and I wonder if it is a general trend of the music industry? With Gord using it so often in the 70's during his heyday, I really came to like the fade-outs rather than the abrupt endings.

"No Mistake About It" would have been helped by a earlier fade out.

Overall the album is a winner. I am so thankful we even got this album at all. Inspiration Lady, End of All Time, and Sometimes I Wish are as strong as material he has done in 20 years. I was in Toronto with the newsgroup in May 2001 so the two live songs will always be special. I think "Clouds of Loneliness" is one of those songs I will like in time but it hasn't immediately grabbed me. Probably need to really study the lyrics better.

My only knocks on the album is the repetitiveness in the words "Harmony" (25 times), "Jessi Jo" (19 times), and "Couchiching" (49 times). Harmony and Flyin' Blind are bailed out by infectious melody lines. The only song I really don't like is Couchiching.... he maybe should have skipped a refrain and had Terry do a solo. My wife thinks "No Mistake About It" is a clunker and a little chauvinistic. But secretly, I like the snarl to it.

Anyway, I will keep listening to it daily until I have the lyrics memorized.

Fade outs were a 60's and 70's must for AM radio. Songs were generally recorded as longer pieces, but in order to be radio friendly, they were cut by fading. Songs that are faded also makes it easier on DJ's
for obvious reasons. A song had to be a real smash to escape these restrictions, i.e.
Hotel California, American Pie, Free Bird,
Paradise by the Dashboard Light, etc. Fade outs or no fade outs, doesn't matter to me, whatever works for the particular song.

Restless, I'll Prove My Love, and I think Wild Strawberries also fades off, but not while he's singing. And if memory serves me well, Only Love Would Know doesn't fade off at all.
