I wasn't quite sure if this should be here or the Small Talk section.

But anyway on a site about Buddy Holly and it mentions him being in a group also called The Two Tones.

Obviously this was before he formed The Crickets and became famous and Gordon and Terry were probably not aware of this at the time.

Hey Touhy,it's no surprise there was another Two Tones. It's a given thing about musicians in that most of them think alike.

Before there were the Motown "Temptations",there was a 1 hit wonder group w/the same name.

In the 70s another 1 hit w. called Sweet Sensation and then the more successful 2nd act that had a few hits in 1990,including the #1 hit,"If Wishes Came True".

Thankfully, these coincidences are few and far between. I wonder if Holly's Two Tones have any recordings?

And in 1958 a young Indian born lad in the UK called Harry Webb decided to change his name to Cliff Richard and he originally called his backing group "The Drifters" but to avoid confusion they changed to "The Shadows" furthermore in a film called "The Young Ones" Cliff performed a song called "Lessons In Love"
which the Two Tones covered on their first and only single release

"January 26 Buddy, Sonny Curtis, and Don Guess begin their first recording sessions for Decca at (Owen) Bradley's Barn under the name Buddy and The Two Tones. They record Love Me, Don't Come Back Knocking, Midnight Shift, and Blue Days Black Nights."
Furthermore a session guitarist on that session was Grady Martin later doing the same job on a Nashville album/series of singles (Early Lihghtfoot) also recorded by Gord in Bradley's Barn

3.Ben E King>The Drifters>Cliff Richard>TwoTones>Gordon Lightfoot
