i've watched the video of Rick being i'viewed outside the Hamilton medical facility & i thought he did a great job of handling all the questions. for very good reason he seemed shaken, but at the same time composed. as he said himself "i'm just the bass player" & explained as much as he could in lieu of the doctor who, at the time of the i'view had been called away. Rick is not "just the bass player" but a very close friend to Gord for 35 yrs. i can imagine all the tension that is taking place at the Hamilton hospital, i've been thru it too many times; but i get the impression that Gord is in very good co. his band is very much part of the Lightfoot family. he has his wife, children, sister, etc. he is surrounded by so much love in that Hamilton hospital, & i hope he knows that he's surrounded by love on the internet as well!
i'm going out now to pick out a get well card!

keep in touch,
james

Very well stated, James. I believe you echoed what alot of us are feeling. Rick Haynes showed some very proper emotion during that press conference. Also, I would like to thank Char for having this venue for information. In Vegas any news is hard to come by and this site has been wonderful. Thank you Char, and much thanks to all those who have posted info for the rest of us the past few days. I believe you are helping thousands of people, as many of us read but don't post - I know I didn't post for a while. One final thought: We all have experienced that certain things are inevitable in life. With this in mind I have lowered my expectations for GL. Once he recovers, I expect only 20 more years of great music from him. At that point he is free to retire and spend 10 years paddling about in his canary yellow canoe.
Love to all - Steve
