Hello, since I work for Best Western reservations, I checked, and we now have a Best Western in Orillia. Curiously enough, it's called the Couchiching Inn. First of all, what is Couchiching, and in their description, they mention the Lightfoot Trail. Does anyone know what the trail is, and the answer to what Couchiching is?
Thanks a lot.
Matthew

The Lightfoot Trail is a paved hiking/biking/walking trail within Oriliia. See http://webhome.idirect.com/~brown/uhthoff.htm for more information.

The Lightfoot Trail goes around the shore of Couchiching. There are actually two lakes Couchiching and Lake Simcoe. Since you obviously get discounts for staying at the Best Westerns, I would advise a trip there, it is a beautiful place and everyone was very friendly. They even have an A%W there, I haven't seen one of those for a while.

Ahhhhh, yes, great hamburgers and you can still get the root beer in a real glass if you ask. There's one down the mountain from me. The dog and I used to stop on the way up for a bite back when I was driving way too much. I don't think they ever did get her order right though; cheeseburger plain, no condiments.

My dogs are Wendy's fans - they have doggie patties. Glad I am not the only one who goes through the drive through for the co-pilots.

C'mon B, remember you and me and Oma's family are going to go to Toronto in November '04! Be calm, do some yoga and the next 16 months will go by semi-quickly!

Just returned form the near north. we stopped through Orillia, I never found the large sign that has often been displayed here but, we drove by a van that appeared to be replacing those signs with new white plastic landscape lovely signs that had no comments about Gord anywhere...drove by the BestWestern and lake Simcoe could be the 7th Great Lake and a cool downtown section with the Opera House being quite unique...had we had another nigth we would have stayed to see the play that was to play there. Met some very lovely people and had a good time in the downtown section. Also had a good time in the town of Barrie (good seafood too, fresh scallops and lobsteer, yum)good
beach party.
Please go and enjoy Matthew Bullis, and all it is a nice small town. But lake Simcoe is huge. Next time I go I am renting a boat to explore.
Bye

I used to drive down the mountain for Monday morning 8am meetings, which were just a well disguised form of torture, and I stopped once, just once at McDonalds and split a two for $2.22 McMuffin deal with her. Ever since, about a mile from that particular McDonalds her head pops up in my rear view mirror with that expectant look.

And they say I've taught her nothing. Why I've taught her the location of every burger joint for thirty miles!
