Not in the article but a related anniversary,29 years ago this and last week the song was #3. (In the week of 11/14 to 11/20/'76) Gordon's song peaked at #2,1 year and almost a week after the Edmund Fitzgerald sank. A well as hitting it's peak on his birthday. :) Had "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald hit #1,it would have been Gordon's biggest hit over "Sundown". ...but,the important thing about today,is the memory of those 29 men and their families.
