72 and still gettin' it done.Happy Birthday Gordon Lightfoot

My goodness, did you ever think that he'd still be touring at 72?
For those who saw him back in the 60's 70's and 80's did you ever imagine still going to his concerts in 2010?
It's astounding to think how much energy it takes to tour and do 70 - 80 shows a year but at 72 years of age!
I'm exhausted from 4 days of ATTENDING concerts when he's at Massey Hall !

I hope he takes a moment today on his day off In Idaho Falls, Idaho to relax and have cake!
lol

Happy Birthday Gordon!

Guess those cards we sent to him when he was beginning to get up there, like turning fifty... with good wishes saying "may you have many more" were well worth sending as it's clear they have come to reality.

I can't believe it when I see his tour schedule. It tires me out just reading it.

He's part of a dwindling group of living legends who continues still to brings so much joy to so many.

Soldier on there Gordie and "may you have many more."

Happy Birthday to you, and your elephant too!

I've decided Nov. 17 is a holiday for me. No housework today and the kitchen's going to close early.

Gordon Lightfoot and I share the same birthday but he's got a few years on me. We both have Martin Guitars and love Canada too so I always feel a strong bond.

I just picked up a copy of the CRT book for my grand-daughter for her second Christmas since she always hands me a book to read whenever I walk in the room. Her mother works for the GE plant where they make locomotives so what are the chances I can get this book autographed for my grand-daughter by the man himself in time for Christmas?

Stick it in the mail tomorrow with a request and send it to the office in Toronto with another bubble envelope in it with stamps and your address on it... make sure to ask that it be returned asap for it to be a xmas gift..

Re: 72 and still gettin' it done.Happy Birthday Gordon Lightfoot

Some authors will mail an autographed book plate that you stick inside the book. Since Gord is not primarily an author, he may not have any on hand but you could even send a home made plate and ask him to autograph it. That way there is no risk of losing the book in the mail and you will definitely have the book at least for Christmas.

Have a great 72nd birthday, you great old man. I continue to follow your music since the early 1970's. You rock, you inspire, you guide us through life's storms, and my family still marvels why I follow your great works. It's because you strike a chord in my soul. Your work is not just a commercial enterprise but a direct, effective connection to the human soul. And that's all I have to say about that.
