Re: Tim - GordisKing
Hi jj thanks for starting my thread for me! I was going to get around to it when I had another video to post on youtube. Problem is both my steel strings are pretty unplayable right now so recording is a problem. I've decided to take the D-35 into the shop, bite the bullet and put the repair on the card if necessary so I can get back to work.
best wishes to all, Tim |
Re: Tim - GordisKing
as I mentioned ...and i'll pipe in again....Long River is my favorite of yours.
love it. john |

Re: Tim - GordisKing
Hey jj Thanks. I did bite the bullet today and dropped my D-35 off at the shop. I'm going to have the saddle reset, possibly some fret dressing, and most importantly, I'm going to have a fishman matrix pickup and preamp with tone control installed. It's a bit financially irresponsible of me but whatever. I miss it. And when I get it back, I'll put up some more vids soon after.

Your Love's Return (Song For Stephen Foster)
YouTube - Gordon Lightfoot - Your Love's Return (Song For Stephen Foster) - (Cover) I'm sorry - I can't remember how to make it just a link. I'll edit this when I remember. -DM Okay, I remembered, or rather, RM reminded me! :) |
Re: Tim - GordisKing

Glad you like it Jim. I played it at the Aurora show, but messed up the instrumental at the end a bit. It's a bit easier to play sitting down. Now I gotta figure out what song to do next .... |
Re: Tim - GordisKing
Hi Char,
the trip home was fine. It was a beautiful day that day. And traffic through Toronto wasn't quite so terrifying. We're doing great here. Getting ready to move. |

Re: Tim - GordisKing
That is a good one. Okay, i'll add it to the request list. I'm afraid the list on my channel has gotten so long that I can't put them all up, but I'll add it as space permits. No promises that it will be the next one (though it might be!) , but now that dust is settling here after a tumultuous year, I'll try to grease the wheels a bit and get more done.
thanks for the suggestion Ron! |
Re: Tim - GordisKing
Okay, thought I'd throw this one up as it's been on the request list for a while and I thought I could get it done quickly. Took longer than I thought 'cause it was hard to get the mix right. Unfortunately on the "whoop whoop's" I couldn't avoid some noise.
YouTube - Gordon Lightfoot - Steel Rail Blues (Cover) |
Re: Tim - GordisKing
Excellent as always. Your vocal range continues to amaze me.
You'll have no problem getting "It's Worth Believin' " cranked out. It's basically the same thing.......only different. |
Re: Tim - GordisKing
Hey, I didn't realize one of my YouTube favorites was on this board! Good to see you Tim. Thanks for your help and advice (still trying to figure out "Miguel" on the 6 string). I go by "racernc" on youtube. I really enjoy your songs!

Re: Tim - GordisKing
I agree with you jj re The Gypsy. But Tim, I must say your vocals hit the top of the charts on Your Love's Return....very nicely done! Each one of your creations is quite unique--looking forward to more.

Re: Tim - GordisKing
Ok, so you won't mind if I submit a request then? I was listening to Gord while driving home from work today and I realized just how much I like the song I'll Tag Along....I think it would suit you very well.

Re: Tim - GordisKing
Thanks jj. We're gettin' along alright here. I took a teaching job in Illinois that has taken some adjustment. Hence the hiatus. I"m glad to know that F & F has gotten another hit. Did you see the Fogelberg cover?

Re: Tim - GordisKing
Thanks jj. Yes I can't get those high notes without contorting my face. I guess that's where all the lines are coming from. Someday I suppose I just won't be able to get them at all.
Thanks for the song theme suggestion. You're right, I hadn't thought of that. I sat down again recently and tried to do some writing. I got a few lines down. I need to find time to get more done. I'm also planning on researching home recording. I'd like to try producing something good enough for iTunes but I know next to nothing about recording right now. I've ordered a book that gets good reviews from amazon. It should be arriving monday. Anyway, I hope you're having a great holiday season. Best wishes -Tim |

Then again my dad turns 84 in February and his voice is as resonant and loud as it's ever been. Maybe I've been blessed with some good genes.

Re: Tim - GordisKing
Hopefully for Massey 2011 Tim will make it up and JJ can experience how wonderful Tim's performance is at a pubjam. I'm really glad I made it to Aurora to see him, John, Ron and Paul earlier this year.
|
Re: Tim - GordisKing
Man, I'd love to make it to Massey. I'm so bummed I couldn't go this year. That was a fun time in Aurora. And yes, I'd like to meet JJ and see everybody I met last time again.
|
Re: Tim - GordisKing
Great to see you again Tim with your wonderful contributions.
I thoroughly enjoyed the complete package of all you have on You Tube. You sure put your heart and soul into your work. We missed you at the pub jam but there'll be other fun times ahead I'm sure. Take care and keep them coming. All the best in this New Year. RJ. |
Re: Tim - GordisKing
Thanks Ron. As for heart and soul, I can say the same thing about you. Best wishes to you too! -Tim
