Nickname for Lightfoot Fans

Hi,
While driving the other day. I had some ideas as to what Lightfoot fans could call themselves. After all I think the "Head" idea has been used enough.

Came up with a few possibilities.

Lightfoot loonies (In reference to "Ringneck Loon"
Sundowners
Rainy Dayers
Fitzers

The Gordonaires (my favorite)

Take a shot
Kevin

Lighthead is fine for me but Sundowners sounds OK too. :)

Re: Nickname for Lightfoot Fans

Lightheads seems to be what most of us call ourselves..back about 8 years ago a bunch of us called ourselves Lightfoot Loonies-partly for Ringneck Loon, the Canadian Loonie coin and then last cuz we're loony for Lightfoot!

I feel the same as Jesse Joe. My dad called me a Lighthead over 30 years ago. I do like the name Sundowners, but I will always be a Lighthead.

Here's a news story about fans of Lightfoot: "Lightheads" and those of the internet variety - "Net People" -

That was a great article Char ! I saw this before. And you did just awesome, (saying all the right things) in that Toronto Sun article dated 2005 ... :) Another great reason for keeping the name "LIGHTHEADS." ;)

Re: Nickname for Lightfoot Fans

glad that article is archived nicely, char:)

Lighthead label still makes me think of Deadheads/Parotheads, I'd go to the other extreme:

there's only one Gord (Lightfoot) but there's so many followers (Lightfeet), maybe that's us

but seriously, if i were ever making a zaney GL fan website I'd go with wildstrawberries.com

Great article Char, I enjoyed reading it. As for the name, Sundowners has too much of a connection with an aging disease for me! I just stick with a very loyal fan.

Great article Char! Thanks for charing. I kind of like the name Lightheads, too. It's different. The name Sundowners is a make of horse trailers, too, so I guess it's taken.

Light like air or like a lightbulb? I had a couple pieces of that air head candy today. A half a piece of green (apple)and a half a piece of blue (raspberry), and my tongue turned like really dark.

How 'bout two names? One for the women...that would be "All the Lovely Ladies" and one for the men, that would be "The Boss Men":)

I used to think it was me that invented the term 'corfidian', but I know for a fact that the term corfiddler is original.

Then again, it's possible to be a Lightfoot fan but not a corfid poster. As far as I know, Lighthead works for me.

Yeah, Blackberry Winos. (Kidding too) Strobe-lightheads?

Here's another: Gord's "Shadows"... "Lightfeet" as JJ suggested is cute, but I think I like "Lightheads" best! :)

I like Jesse Joe's "Early Morning Rainheads" ROFL

Sundowners is a good one to. But then I though of the "Sundowner" -an abandoned motel in Nevada located in the outskirts of the 'living' ghosttown, Tonopah. At the time I had seen it, I thought with the amazing view and all, how charming a place it would be if it were to be renovated and turned into a "rest home".

Now I'm thinking it would be an ideal retirement community for us Lightheads in our later years!

Oh GADZ I just noticed Patti's additions here too...how FUNNY!

Don't think I've actually ever drank Blackberry Wine but me and "Miss Piggy" used to drink Blackberry brandy. I can still picture her behind the wheel of her folks Suburban..that bottle in one hand and a cigarette in the other.

I tend to think, if it ain't broke...don't fix it. "Lightheads" will always be my favorite. That being said, I can't resist but to offer up my own silly nickname. How about the "Canadian Railroad Trilobites"???? Pretty catchy, eh? (Oops....I'm not Canadian. Don't think I have proper authorization to use "eh"....sorry!)

Jesse Joe 01-26-2008 07:52 PM

Re: Nickname for Lightfoot Fans

It's all for fun, but I like "Biscuit City Bunch" lol and "Summertime Dreamers" :)

Ha- ha-ha these are pretty good.
You guys are funny.
Zoneranger where'd you get your alphabet for "Dreamers"? Doing calligraphy I always look for close to arial with alterations and that is nice. I like the Dreamers concept.
Kind of the way we get Gords music... dreamy. Good stuff, you guys.
Blackberry winos was too harsh!!! And yeah, I recall that blackberry brandy, that used to be some good stuff, now, I am allergic to it. Darn.
And sundowners is a medical term, too, isn't it Auburn Annie? I thoughy it was...
You guys are funny.

To me, it will always be "Lightheads"

Now, to get downright WEIRD: "Miner's Child Mothers"

Gwen,

That font is called "Noie-et-blanc" and is available, along with many other fine fonts, at www.dafont.com.

One more suggestion for a name....Mindreaders

Cool Jess Joe. I especially liked the corkscrew, but it made me thirsty for a little Pinot Grigio...
And all of Ye Drifters who will gather at the Massey event, I'll be envy-ing you
Zoneranger, you have the coolest stuff! I will check that out.

Hi Char,

That article just blew me away! I'm what I call a born-again Lighthead, trying to make up for lost time. (It's a long story!) I saw him in Portland OR last summer, and have been waiting for the Massey dates to be posted. I've got tickets for Wednesday and Thursday! I hope to get to meet some fellow "Net People" then too.

Hi Ann from Portland,

" I'm what I call a born-again Lighthead, trying to make up for lost time. (It's a long story!)"

I really like that, and for an answer to this thread's question, Id say we are Lightheads... :)

'Brave Mountaineers' does sound good also Brannah. I had not notice before that your from BC. There are not too many Canadians here. Strange, many Canadian Lightfoot fans must not know about Corfid ? :)

There actually is a composition called lightfootin' by a Toronto based fan name of Ray
Murray who it seems is one of the few non spammers who haunt the relatively useless
Yahoo fan club group at:-
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group...htfootfanclub/
I responded to his most recent message dated 30 January 2007
in which he said
" Yes Amen.............piss off Dr. Goof
Ray"
This was my response that I made some time later on December 20th 2007 (after I had heard the CFRB broadcast)
in which I recommended that he join corfid and then I posted back here as follows:-
"Hey Ray I think I have previously recommended that you cease posting
here on this spam infested apology for a message board and use corfid.
I heard you on Sunday on CFRB and have now mentioned you and
your "lightfootin'" epic on a relevant thread at:-
http://www.corfid.com/vbb/showthread...ewpost&t=17893
you might like to register there and join the multitude already
actively posting there
and do try to make it to the next Massey Hall/Delta Chelsea jam
session (next May probably)
John Fowles"
what I did do in that corfid posting was
lead you to the lyrics of the above mentioned ditty.
"We managed to catch the 1AM repeat I and noted a caller named "Ray" from somewhere in the
Tronno area who spouted on about a song he had composed called "lightfootin'."
This was undoubtedly one of the extremely rare non spam posters on the stoopid Yahoo fan club group Ray Murray his lyrics only are at:-
http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/kJ9qR11...tfootin%27.doc
or use
http://lightfootin.notlong.com"
I just tried those two links and neither now function but if you go to the group then if necesary sign in and click on the files menu item
you can open a word doc containing Ray's lyrics which begin:-

"Lightfootin’—Ray Murray
G C D G
So here’s to you, you ol’ son-of-a-gun
C D G
You taught me how to play when I was so young
C D
From the Early Morning Rain
C D
To Sundown’s last refrain"
Ido not think that Ray took up thre suggestioon (unless he joined with an obscure name like Landon "dorkdog" Johnson has . So I will now return to the Yahoo group and rtry to send him a mesage to tell him about this thread

And whilst at the group you could also download an mp3 I uploaded entitled:-
"25-Talkin' Silver Cloud Blues.mp3
Sung by John D. Loudermilk with intro by Gord"
That is an mp3 file of 4223KB (4.12MB) encoded at a rate of 128 KBPS)
It was digitised from the 1999 BBC Radio Liverpool GL interview by Spenser Leigh and is well worth hearing
