Are you going? Can you sneak in a video camera, tape recorder, me?

Gord 08-05-2004 10:30 PM

I'm thinking of sitting here and recording the audio on the fly.... I haven't seen anything about it being on TV... but if all of us Lightfoot fans flood the CBC website tomorrow night, chances are we won't be able to hear it online.

Hmmm I think a DVD recorder is in my future LOL

Kenyon 08-06-2004 10:42 AM

If anyone can tape this off air, I would be willing to shell out some $$ to have a copy. I just found out I'll be working when the show is broadcast on CBC! So no Lightfoot on Friday night for me. Boo hoo!

Gord 08-06-2004 10:55 AM

I don't think it's gonna be on TV just CBC Radio 1, I think you will find it available in the Lightfoot archives in the not too distant future.

jj 08-06-2004 02:24 PM

can't everyone listen to this worldwide?
http://www.cbc.ca/audio.html#

they may show bits on cbc newsworld television like they did with family farm tribute (although that may have only been because they were taking pledges onscreen, which they could have setup for this also, no?)

why don't american tv cable outfits pickup our cbc? it should be syndicated so we can reduce our taxes! ctv aint too shab either http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

brink 08-06-2004 07:53 PM

jj I agree, I would rather pay for CBC than HBO or Cinemax. I would gladly pay to Canadian channels. I asked Direct TV they said nothing in the near future. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/frown.gif

LSH 08-06-2004 08:00 PM

Yep, I'd love to have Canadian Stations with cable or whatever. Tomorrow the CBC radio one on the web will have highlights from the concert on the last part of "fresh air". I got the radio live but I can't get the concert live?? Sooo, I guess I'll go to it tomorrow and listen. SIGH. Maybe I should just move north...

LSH 08-06-2004 08:06 PM

ooooh never mind, I got it, I got it, I got it...YES YES YES!!!!

brink 08-06-2004 08:07 PM

I am listening to it right now!!!!! But I want to see it!!! Go to the site jj placed on the forum and it is just starting. I want to record it too. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

Gord 08-06-2004 08:11 PM

I'm listening to it as well, I have high speed cable and sometimes it gets choppy.

Hopefully they don't leave GL til the last I gotta get up at 3:30 am LOL

Never mind I think that's what is gonna happen, the lesser known musicians play first then as the night goes on the known ones begin.

I'd love to go to the concert, but Peterborough is too far off for a teen with no money to drive.

Gord 08-06-2004 08:40 PM

This turned out to be a sham.... this is not the concert in it's entirety... it's just highlights of the concert til 10:00pm...

LSH 08-06-2004 08:55 PM

let ride
IYCRMM
what's next
he sounds SOOOOOO good
I'm proud of him, so proud right now

Borderstone 08-06-2004 09:01 PM

Boy,I wasn't even close with my song guesses!

Sundown was a hit after IYCRMM,so i guess that's pretty close? http://www.corfid.com/ubb/confused.gif

Gord 08-06-2004 09:04 PM

Apparently GL did 5 songs.... CBC only broadcast him doing " Let it Ride" and IFYCRMM.

Anyway I now have these 2 songs captured live... I will process them later into MP3's.

Hopefully CBC will add the other 3 songs to their archives.

LSH 08-06-2004 09:10 PM

ok, he did five songs, I'm assuming some were with ronnie since gl was on stage with him. he sounded great and I hope they play the whole gordon section on highlights..

bjb 08-06-2004 09:10 PM

I'm in Edmonton but was able to listen too, thanks to jj!!!

I'm so happy to hear that he did 5 songs. He must be feeling well. The radio DJ said it was an emotional performance, I bet that's on both the audience and the performer's part...

jj 08-06-2004 09:11 PM

so cool, yeah really, proud is a good word to describe the feeling over that few minutes... happy the Hawk sounded well also http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

acoustic let it ride, what a treat, the band can retire as far as i'm concerned, lol

he looked so great also, they showed a snippit of him playing IYCRMM on cbc nw, hopefully that wasn't just the tv adding a few lbs

it was only a sham if you're a jason mccoy fan, lol...didnt' hear anything from him (yet)

some dude said it was great to be 10 ft from Gordon for 5 songs, hmmm, will have to check fresh air, like lsm said... i think they may have done EMR together, but i could be wrong (again http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif )

the feeling's NOT gone, and he HAS got it back... whew ...glad folks got to listen also http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

LSH 08-06-2004 09:22 PM

yeah, he's still got it going on all over the place..oh to see it live...

bjb 08-06-2004 09:53 PM

Did the Lightfoot band play too, or was it solo?

jj 08-06-2004 09:53 PM

city tv will also show some wee footage at 11, it's affiliated with cp24 so check here:
http://www.pulse24.com/Front_Page/page.asp

click on the watch cp24 live button for feed, i think it loops over 30 mins so you'd have to refresh... however peering at a 2 inch window on the monitor aint quite 'live' but it's still quite absorbing, i've left a nose print on my monitor

ok, where will the man suddenly appear next week? guess the venue? guess the tunes?
'guess not, lol

hans 08-06-2004 09:58 PM

solo http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif

jj 08-06-2004 10:13 PM

hey, caught him on the local Peterborough news also, playing Couchiching http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

Ronnie's review of Gord's performance: "did you hear him sing those songs? he was stronger than 40 acres of fresh garlic" lol

Sidney Freedmen 08-06-2004 10:31 PM

Correct Me if i'm wrong, it's this Friday the 6th not last friday, right?

LSH 08-06-2004 11:18 PM

I'm not getting the video, should I just hang in there and wait? will they loop it?

LSH 08-06-2004 11:21 PM

jj 08-07-2004 07:17 AM

3 songs?
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servl...ational/Canada

jj 08-07-2004 08:00 AM

also played Diamond Joe... just heard on CBC1

RickC 08-07-2004 09:04 AM

Just listened to CBC Fresh Air on my truck radio on my way home after a week on the road. They played all 3 songs he sang: Let It Ride, IYCRMM, and Diamond Joe by " Ramblin' Jack Rueben " ( not sure about artist ?? ) I'm always in a good mood when heading home but this just made my week-end!

He began by explaining how much of a challenge it was for him to perform as is anything he does these days. Also the CBC news which played previously played a clip of an interview with Gord and Ron Hawkins . Gord explained he's " just working his way back ".

His voice was strong and distinctly " Gord ".
I think anytime we can hear him sing after what he went through is a blessing.

I'd also like to point out that he's doing charity events during his recovery. ( next concert in Hamilton a benifit for the hospital). A class act all the way ; your the man Gord!

The CBC said you could hear more of the benifit concert on Monday during " Ontario Morning"?

Just a thought: I wonder if he finds inspiration in his song " Let It Ride ", The lyrics would definitely fit his situation.

brink 08-07-2004 09:20 AM

jj Ronnie said fresh. Do you think that there might be a CD or video put out to raise more money? There would be money rolling in from the US and all over Canada for that.

brink 08-07-2004 09:26 AM

I don't think I've heard Diamond Joe, is this a new song or one of Ronnie Hawkins?

LSH 08-07-2004 09:43 AM

I missed the highlights. sigh. I was sleeping. Maybe another time. I'm hoping to see some more footage elsewhere. It was all so amazing. His voice was beautiful.

LSH 08-07-2004 09:45 AM

ps. jj, many thanks for heads up, all the info and the links, you were much appreciated, although I was too high on lightfoot to get to it last night.
Thanks!!

johnfowles 08-07-2004 11:10 AM

well thankfully Susan and I were able to hear part of the concert live so we shared yet another marvellous internet experience.
We were blown away by the strength of his voice which must have blown the audience all the way to Whitby at least. Th solo
Let it ride was exquisite.
