Yves - that is beautiful.....even if it wasn't a Lightfoot song it still would be so impressive!
You're one talented guy....I can hear you and Bill doing a duet like I told you before....Bill singing the english words, you singing the french.....oh my that would be something! Is there any way you'll make it over here to attend Massey shows and join in the jam sessions with all the other talented fans???? Hurry with the other 3 songs! Char |

Yves,
I have listened to this over and over again...it is absolutely, stunningly beautiful! Your playing is beautiful, and your voice is superb. Thank you so much for sharing this...what a wonderful gift you have given us!! Mouse |
Exactly what Mouse said.
|
Fantastic, Yves! I think you should consider putting all of your French Lightfoot covers on a CD, and sending it to Gord! I'd bet he'd get a kick out of hearing them sung in a different language.
|
Wow that is Stunningly Beautiful Yves!
Thanks so much for making it available! Bill |
Yves, that is stunningly beautiful! and I think Cathy's idea for a CD is something you should consider.
Thank you for sharing talent with us. |
Love it - of course I'm a sucker for simple arrangements and the source material, c'est parfait!

Oh, Yves, c'est magnifique! It's truly a gorgeous rendition -- you should be SO proud. And, as for me, I'd have to say I'm a sucker for a French accent. You could be singing "I'll be taking out the garbage this Friday night" and I'd love it, LOL!!!! ;) Seriously, though, your interpretation is phenomenal. Truly from the heart. And thank you for this -- your gift to all of us.
|
Darn - now I really have to call Dell and find out why my new computer won't install Macromedia Flash Player. I really want to listen to this song as I have heard so many nice things about your music - beyond what is posted here.
Sheryl: "...I'll be taking out the garbage this Friday night..." - That was great! I laughed so loud that my friend came in from the other room to see what was so funny since he knew I was in here by myself :D |
Yes Yves, that was a great song.
I hope to hear the complete french version of "Nous Vivons Ensemble" |
I am OK to try to write a french version of "Nous vivons ensemble"... but I have never listen to this tune. Please send me an MP3 version.
ysavari@club-internet.fr I can't tell at once if I will be abble to write it... I need to feel an emotion at the music an the lyrics too. Merci, thank you very much ! Yves |

Now that the computer is functioning properly, I made a beeline over to listen to your recording. Yves, that is absolutely stunning! What a gorgeous voice and you play beautifully. Now I fully understand (and agree with) everyone's comments above.
I'm looking forward to hearing more songs. |
Ok, I find very pleasant this interest on what I do around GL's art and say thanks to everybody.
post about "Nous vivons ensemble" : I read the text and don't know how I could do better than Gordon Lightfoot did because the first part in english is the mirror reflection of the second one in french... but I m still interested in listening the tune. |

Yves, your accent would be 100% better than our Gord's, I think. ;)

Dear friends and Gordon Lightfoot's fans...
You gave me the pleasure and pride of telling you like my version of "Inspiration Lady". Many of you went to SOUNDCLICK (http://www.soundclick.com/sevy) and listened to it so the song raised at the 29th row in the "acoustic folk cover songs" category. It"s not enough (LOL). So you can help the song in listening to it one more time and vote HOT in the system HOT or FLOP. 3 more covers will be ready next week. Many things to all of you Yves |

YES!
|
I went and listened again and voted "HOT" :)
Like Sheryl, I'm looking forward to next week! |
Thanks for your votes... but for now, the song is in the deepness of the charts...LOL.
I posted under another nicname (Frenchyves)others songs on Sounclick. Among these is a version of Song for a winter's night. I call it a joke version because you will think I m in front of an audience... but the truth is that I'm in my room facing my computer and mic...and alone. T'was just a joke for a friend of mind whom I told that I have had to do in a hurry the first part of a known singer coming in my town...well, 57 but still joker ! this time, it is on http://www.soundclick.com/frenchyves different adress than http://www.soundclick.com/sevy have good time !! Well...it's certainly no joke Yves - that is stunning...and again I must say that you and Bill HAVE to work on a duet....absolutely HAVE to....
thank you for sharing - it's made a grey, rainy Toronto day much much nicer... merci merci merci. |

WOW!
Yves, The five songs on your other link have an mp3 download, and I have put them on my music player. Any chance of getting an mp3 link for La Raison De Ma Vie ? You are brilliant!!! Thank you very, very much. |
Oh yes, I voted HOT for the two GL songs. :)
And they ARE hot! |
Oh my gosh, Yves, I have GOOSE BUMPS!! When the song ended, I'm not sure who was cheering and clapping louder, the 'faux audience' on your recording or ME! :)
Like David, I downloaded all of the songs at that site so I can listen any time. They are all beautiful, but my favorite of the non-Lightfoot songs is "Ultime Chaine" - it just sounds so sad and fragile with the harmonica really adding to that lonesome feeling. Just stunning! |

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...?bandID=529732 So I had to download the mp3. I have just played it as I wanted to compare the recording with Yves' original recording of his translated "Nuits d'hiver" and, being used to hearing Gordon sing it in English, it was several seconds before I realised that Yves was singing in English not French!! duh!!! I noted that his intonation of the word "near" was pretty well identical to Gord's despite the fact that as far as I know Yves has still only heard Tony Rice's bluegrass version. I must say that IMHO the added audience sounds are very neat and realistic John Fowles One little thing Yves. Your picture on that site is very small. I have saved it and enlarged it to the biggest I could without getting too blurry http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-...chyves_400.jpg Could you please upload the original which is pesumably much larger and clearer and either post its address here or better still display it in this topic Mercy buckets |

the corfid member map at:- http://www.frappr.com/corfid as discussed in topic:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb...=003558#000000 If you go there you will find that the map of members in Europe is nearly bare http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-...fid_europe.jpg there are actually three of us in the UK plus David Bradford over in Sweden. I like the beard, John. (referring to Gord above circa 70's?) <she said smiling>
Also... my husband was born in Salzburg, raised in Toronto. |
To John FOWLES...
John, when I said that the 3 finished covers were coming in the next 3 days, it was what I thought... but I have to consider that my friend from the studio works for free (for me) and that, if the recording is finished, he needs a few hours to do the final mix. He is somebody very precise and precautionous so the good time for the "coming out" is up to him... ...and you know, I am on holidays and took the time to go in the south of france and see my children and little children, telling my self that a recording is not so important... happily I m not in showbusiness and there will be no echo on my life if I sell my poor 150 CDs a bit later... But I will respect the interest you pay to that work, doing as fast as possible. The photograph, is another joke ! this is my real face, but the body is Tony RICE's body taken on the record "Tony Rice sings G. Lightfoot" have a look at the neck you will see I m not so good at "photoshop". I will find and send a better photograph... Friendly. See you John Yves |
