Steel Rail Blues 22 Alberta Bound 9

Woo hoo hoo! The consensus of the Corfid community is that Steel Rail Blues is the yearning song you really enjoy.

For all you who know the beauty of spending time in Northern Canada, you'll enjoy the next matchup that a Corfider has proposed. Gord has always evoked the Canadian landscape in his writing. It is a very special part of Gord's repertoire. I love to listen to these songs and get lost in the imagery of the Canadian north. It's no wonder that when people think of Canada, Gordon Lightfoot comes naturally to mind. Which of these evocotive northern songs do you prefer?

a weird one...

i loved whispers of the north.

at the time my grandfather died in 1999, i was listening to the Paintre album a lot. i used to hate ringneck loon, but nowadays, it reminds me of a great time in my life, despite the circumstances..

i'll say RINGNECK LOON

absolutely "Whispers of the North", I love the backing vocals, which I believe Gord done himself. Love the bird effects at the start too.

Long River 02-16-2006 01:25 PM

"Whispers of the North", a beautiful and somewhat haunting song. I love it.

Borderstone 02-16-2006 03:58 PM

"...and we can ri-i-ide away..."

"Whispers of The North". ;)

R.N.L. ? Maybe if there was a video for it,I'd "get it" but it just doesn't have what the other does,in my opinion.

Ringneck Loon

How could you despise such a wonderful song?

Borderstone 02-17-2006 03:02 PM

I get it Watchman, but it doesn't change my choice. I don't hate the song,it's just not one of the big one's on my list (if you read it,y'know that. ;) :D )
