Hello friends !
Some of you encouraged me on my work trying to do the best on french covers of songs from the Master G.L. My covers are avaibable on http://www.soundclick.com/sevy at a very reasonnable price. One of my friend used to say that a good job is a finished job... mine is finished..."you" will say if it is good. I play with a banjoist and a bassist who is too a great pianist, synthé and sound engineer. NUIT D'HIVER, is a french cover of SFAWN You have already heard LA RAISON DE MA VIE cover of Inspiration Lady. DANS LA FORET is a cover of Home from the Forest. JE NE SAIS PAS, a cover of I"m not saying. I work on editing the CD (but in france, its a real war against administration... there is allways a missing paper !!!) Thaks a lot for your attention ! Hey Yves, Salut comment ca va. Keep it up , if it pleases you to do it, that's what really counts. You ever thought of doing Sundown, {Couchez Du Soleil}. Or Jessie- Jo, TWOTEF, Le Naufrage De Le Edmund Fitzgerald. What part of France do you live? Tu doit surement avoir entendu parler de Roch Voisine...

Answering your question, I live in the west center of france, on the banks of the river Loire near between Angers and Saumur. I m a 57 old P.E. teacher in a college. I ve never heard Sundown... i m ok to try and sing it or adapt it in french... send me an MP3. ysavari@club-internet.fr This song about the Edmund Fitzg is a great one but the song keep one of its interest of the telling of the story. An adaptation would certainly not have the same interest for french listeners...eventualy for french speaking canadians...but most of them must speak and understand english I suppose.. see you Yves |

Yves, wonderful interpretations!! Your voice is just incredible. I love the banjo - very subtle, but adds a distinctive dimension.

I have listened to Yves renditions, and they are gorgeous. However, I think that the borderline between Lightfoot and self-promotion may have been breached here. Perhaps the thread should move to small talk. Just my opinion.... RMD |

Well my friend, I do not understand all that you say, but remember that, on my side, there is no idea of self promotion... It's just a game. My music is my game. I'm 57 and P.E Teacher. I will never be at the hall of fame, I just take pleasure to what I do and am happy if somebody else takes pleasure too.
My game, this time would be to have an answer from Gordon Lightfoot himself, and his opinion because I have done a sincere and serious job, in a complete respect of him and of all of you who admire him. He is not very well known here in france and it's a way to repare that. Merci de votre soutien. Yves |
