I often think i should have been a Canadian war baby.
I can just see myself sipping a drink at Steels Tavern in 64 waiting for that young musician to come on stage.
The problem was in England in the sixties Gord got no exposure.
I mean we had San Franciscan flowers coming out of everybodys hair and a couple of British groups who appeared on the tv more times than Batman and Thunderbirds.
BUT NO GORD!(Not that i can remember anyway).

Ah well,
No point in being dissapointed about things we've got no control over?

What do you think?

Frank.

Another life, huh?
Well, it has nothing to do with Gord, but I've always thought I should have been born back in the late 1800's because I'm so fascinated in American history during that period. I've even gone so far as to follow the Oregon Trail from beginning to end and hit all the museums and attractions pertaining to it in between. I've got cookbooks of foods on the trail and the complete set of Dana Fuller Ross' Wagons West series. I've even participated in a "Mountainman Rendesvous" in Wyoming, living in a lodge and sleeping on buffalo pelts, wearing period dress and native American moccasins. I could go on and on . . . but I won't. (lol)

Long ago, I had the distinct impression that
my soul had been connected to Gordon's in
another life time. He was the Captain of a
tall ship out of Salem Harbor, MASS. and I was his lonely, worried wife walking that widow's walk..... And he would always return.
And he always looked exactly as he does on the cover of Gord's Gold even though were were married for 53 years....... There is something about this man and the sea like no
other.

Ok Frank, quit that guffawing. Dont knock what you dont understand. I kinda agree with Misty. This soul coupling has been one of my fantasies for YEARS. My only problem is figuring out how Misty might be his soulmate, if I am also? (and keep LAMS away from this thread. She may get violent http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif )

Silver Heels,
You're reading it wrong!
You don't understand!
I was complimenting it, as a masterpiece of fine feeling. But, its also entertaining.
Its one of the best posts on the entire site!
Which is why I responded initally the way I did.I was moved to laughter because thats the way I express myself.

Calling Misty Imaginitive,Charismatic and lucky was a genuine, positive, compliment.
BECAUSE SHE IS.(yor taking it as a negative).
we've communicated several times by email.
There certainly isn't a problem.
QUITE THE CONTARY.

I await your response.

Frank.

Ah shucks, Francis, get up off your knees!
I was not having a go at you - not really.
Who knows we may have crossed swords in a
previous life too http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif
You're right, Misty's post was great - but what d'you expect from a woman and a Lightfoot fan!
I also agree with her about the sea element and Gord. He is obviously so at ease with the sea and ships. For me, he was a smuggler
probably 18th century Cornwall before having to flee from the excise men, heading off for the New World and I was no doubt his
'moll' who didnt get to follow him - not in that life anyway. How about that?

Silver Heels,
you're getting awfully serious.
you're missing the point.
Misty's post was tongue in cheek.
Just like mine was when I started the topic.
Sometimes perception recognises this.
(you know like reading between the lines)
Its called humour. Its a relative of Charisma.
you know the thing I've already said Misty has.

What does 'guffawing' mean .
(Its not in any dictionary)

My dear new friends Frank and my favorite
Lightfoot Lady - Silver Heels,

Please excuse the late answer. I was already
disconnected once. Must be a storm in our area of the east coast US. And after over 2 days of being wide awake with pain I finally
was able to get some sleep and didn't wake
up til 5pm,est - late for you there.

Yes. It's true, I e-mailed Frank with concerns about appropritae behaviour at this site. I read the agreement and still had
questions. I'm very ill and was given this laptop to connect me to the world again after 27 months when I could finally sit up
again. Although I joined another fansite at
first (not a Gord site!) it was a very bad experience, as I've shared with Frank via
e-mail. Without sharing gruesome details, I
fled and came here. Although they liked me enough there to start a topic line about me,
there were no rules, whatsoever and it was
vicious, vile and you could say the nicest things and then take a bloody beating for it. I was looking for a tightly controlled, atmosphere where members treat each other with respect & courstesy at all times and
could handle a difference of opinion in a mannery way. I had been watching you all for
a couple of months before I registered and
posted so I feel as though I know you all
already! Actually, I made one unregistered
comment about Gord's tattoo. I believe it was Floria who started that topic. My questions to Frank regarding things like light-hearted flirting and even teasing over members in an affectionate way. Like about
Silver Heels and that black tshirt. LUCKY!
I simply had so many questions and Florian is away and I'm too shy to ask him anyway.
So Frank has been wonderful. I like him very much and did from the first timeI caught him "getting lost" and finding himself in the middle of us getting all womanly & melty over Gord. I think he's hilarious & brings up great topics. Now, before I suffer another disconnect, I'll post this & discuss the topic at hand. See you again in a few minutes. BTW.... I just realized that my
user name may have me giving the impression
that I may be some kind of party girl just
sleeping it off all the time, but I've been a nightowl since birth. be right back! Sorry, didn't take time to proofread as I'm
about to be bounced-off again!

I'll try and do better next time.

Frank,

You are the best cyberman! Thanks for you
patience and support with my endless website questions. You define the words "Gentleman" & "delightful". But to answer your question as to where I was in the "que" when they where giving out luck - I was last in line. Just look at what my silly comment has started!!! I'm so sorry everyone!

I see this issue in so many different ways. First & foremost there is a very real "soul
connection" between Gord, his music and his
fans. Even non-fans, (if you can imagine the thought of 15 people on earth who aren't fans...) will be the first to admit that it's
"very soulful".(but they prefer acid rock.To
each his own?) Yes, it's extremely soulful to
all fans, that I know of, redardless of sex.

But with men and woman being so different, I
can see how an excellent topic such as this
could go two ways. Although this music goes
straight to our hearts, it seems to settle in our souls and then lives there forever. I'm only speaking for myself & the many fans who've relayed the same feelings. Many will
have a great time with this topic. I happen to LOVE it!!! But if the men got stirred up to the point that women do about this stuff then...whew! Even though it gets to all our souls, but women take it to the pit of their
souls. We daydream, visualize, romantisize,
fantasize and wonder what might have been...
This topic will have comments from A to Z
beacuse it's a great change of pace and FUN!
Some of us, like Frank and I will see it as a bit of friviolity and others will take it more seriously. After all, there are several
million women who are out of luck as far as Gord goes in this lifetime & fantasies about past lives & future gives these restless,
aching hearts a place to go & something to do. I know from experience that when he puts
his deepest feelings, heart and soul on public record, many of us are convinced we do, in fact, know him. Because we do. We just
don't know what he eats for breakfast or what the cats did in his great big tv set.
How frustrating must it be to have him share
so much and then not be able to share back?

Frank, thanks for the terrific topic. I'd be shocked if a better one ever comes along.
Look how many people are having fun with it. That's why I look for topics YOU start. You
start the ones I like best!

But this is one that will hit the collective
romantic nerve of the ladies here & you'll get some great answers. I can't wait!

Lots people also truly believe in past lives.

I think the main point I'm trying to make is that he has allowed us to know him through his music. Many of us don't "feel" we know
him, we feel we "KNOW" we know him through
his work. It's extremely frustrating for women. Gord's romantic music stirs us UP!!!!

So thanks for the great topic and let's be prepared for all kinds replys! This is the kind of topic where anything will happen so
I'm just anxiously waiting for more comments. With the "soul connection" in mind
I'm also looking forward to hearing from everyone on that point of view. Who knows for
sure about past lives? No one. But I'll e-mail one to you soon that will shock you. It
shocked my hubby and one other person. But I won't share it in public.

Thanks again for a great topic. I'd like to
start one about our secret, personal nic-names for Gordon, but I'll get in trouble so
never mind. Although mine for Terry is
"Sugarbear", but no one tell him because it's
a SECRET!!! Ok. Mine for Gord is "The Rough
Tough Creme Puff". Do you think I can sneak
it by the inspector?

SILVER HEELS!!!!

I love yours the best! The smuggler and the moll. I'm so jealous of your mind! I always
come to a screeching halt as I'm scrolling along just to read your comments. Frank V,
too. There are several here I must read, but I'm trying so hard to catch up on everything FAST!

So, Silver Heels, if I promise not to steal that black tshirt, can we be good girlyfriends? Do you live in the UK too??!!

Why does EVERYONE get to live there except
me???!!!

And do you think Florian will let us have
those little, tiny, red, cracked broken heart
things along with the smiley faces? We could
use those, more, huh? sniff sniff.....
You ask him. I'm too shy. But we NEED those things, Florian! It's an EMERGENCY!!!!!

Not really SH,
It's a matter of opinion whether its good taste to appreciate your mind.
An intelligant mind would have made their favorable opinions of a poster known, without needlessly attacking another.
you started the chain and it seems your determined to have the last word.It wasn't on my mind until I read your first post today.
Now..., shall we make this the last post and move on.
I Personally, want to return to discussing Gordon lightfoot.
Its the reason I'm here.
