Merrillville Show

The show last night was fantastic!
Gordon's voice held up very well throughout the entire concert and he looked happy and relaxed.
I was close to the stage and had a great view of him while he was singing. One of the things I love about that is the ability to see his facial expressions as he sings...it was great!
He seemed so happy and appreciative each time the audience hollered out and clapped for him. It was really special to see the joy he felt as he performed for us...it really made me happy to see him so happy.

At one point, a lady called out from somewhere behind me and yelled to him that she loved him. Gordon smiled and said, "well thanks, that's always nice to hear from a woman".

He told a really lame joke.... how long is the fur on a rabbit's back?
Answer...about three minutes.

Re: Merrillville Show

He said that he started playing the Star Plaza venue in 1981 and that he had played there nine or ten times...at least I think that's what he said...people around me were talking so I couldn't hear him very well.

We got to hear Minstrel of the Dawn, which made me happy because I love that song. Also got Don Quixote, another favorite of mine, Alberta Bound and Canadian RR Trilogy. I was more than happy to hear all of those songs but my friends were a little let down at not hearing Early Mornin' Rain and I missed Old Dan's Records.
His voice sounded so strong and true as he sang EF that it gave me goosebumps. That song is so haunting.

Re: Merrillville Show

The only trouble that popped up was during Shadows when he forgot the lyrics.
He stopped playing completely and muttered "Oh jesus", under his breath, took a minute to compose himself and then picked up and started playing and singing again.
I know he probably could have done without that moment but it just made him seem so human to me that it added to the experience of seeing him live.

I had such a great time but now I wish I had tickets for at least ten more shows....lol.
Once is not enough...

He really is very witty and entertaining along with being a talented singer/songwriter.

I can't think of much else to tell you right now but I will add more later if anything comes to mind.

Hi Nightingale,

Thanks for your reviews. Will it help you understand Gordon's joke if you insert the word "hare", where the word "fur" is? My sisters had to explain the joke to me for days before I got it. Thank you for joining our family.

Really Omer it is very simple.it is all about mistaken identity.
And it is in exactly the same category as another old chestnut
"we all make mistakes" as the hedgehog said as he got off the scrubbing brush. geddit???

Thanks for the concert review - sounds like you had a great time!:)

Gord told that hare/rabbit joke during last year's tour, but I still got a kick out of it when told it this year. LOL

Thanks for the review....
As far as the joke goes. (Rabbit Life)

A rabbit is a prey animal, in order to stay around, they have to be fast and smart, and have a lot of other rabbits around to become the prey instead. Hence the life span of a wild rabbit isn't very long. Therefore the joke does make sense, although it isn't real thought provoking.

I loved those Blockbuster ads..made me laff like a loon every time..

Re: Merrillville Show

How long (time wise) is a hare (part of the rabbit family) on a rabbits back (because rabbits don't lay on their backs during sex). So, in other words, how long does it take a hare to copulate with a rabbit?

This is what John was alluding to, also.

Sorry I can not draw any pictures.

RM ---- there was no profanity from here either.

Re: Merrillville Show

Oh my gosh, do I ever feel stupid!

Of course it all makes sense now that Dream Street Rose took off the fur and put the hare on the rabbits back....lol. (Thanks DSR)
It also helped that the rest of you spelled it out and I am so glad we didn't have to have pictures....lol.

The Rest Of The Story....

I didn't want to admit to my friends that I didn't get the joke either, so when they asked me what it meant, I took my best shot and explained that it meant that it took three minutes to skin the hair off of a rabbit.
My friend from Chicago is an animal lover and looked absolutley horrified as she shrieked out, "Oh my god....Gordon Lightfoot skins rabbits?"

Hmmmmm....I think I have some explaining to do....lol.
I just hope PETA doesn't come knocking on his door or worse yet, the tabloids get a hold of the rumor...giggle...

You guys have my back, right?
We alll lknow that nasty rumor started in Ohio
