Stationmaster!!!!Aw,Don't delete this,man! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/frown.gif
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/frown.gif http://www.corfid.com/ubb/frown.gif Too much has gone into this to let it end with deletion! You have come up with 2 of the best ideas for threads this year and this is one of them!

Tell you what,if you don't mind bending your rule for this last selection, let me add the last song! Just please, don't erase all of this, there's "Too Much Too Lose" !!
(Pretty please??) http://www.corfid.com/ubb/frown.gif I really like the thread that much. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif Okay? http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif

No offense folks, but hasn't this gotten just a WEE bit out of hand? Almost all of his stuuf has been done one way or another with the best of the best being redone.
You're up to eight discs here folks! Eight! LOL http://www.corfid.com/ubb/eek.gif
Why don't we just put everything he's ever done on a huge 36 cd set and call it a wrap?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not being rude and what you're doing is a lot of fun, but in the true spirit of a Gord's Gold III, why don't we come up with a realtheme for the compilation.
Like one idea could be Disc 1 will be songs about lakes and mines, Disc 2 will be songs about love etc..etc..
Another idea would be to take 5 - 10 songs from each decade with a few 'special' cuts from the 21st century. Don't you think this would give his new Gold Collection better selling power as well as giving some of his underrated, yet great hits some of the notoriety they deserve?

Anyway, please read my own version of what Gord's Gold #3 would be about in my thread, Gordon Lightfoot's Gold From The Past.

I know Stationmaster said one per but at this point Gord's Gold 3 needs an ending and I think that's a very appropriate song. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif
So,shall we call it a box set? http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif $129.95? http://www.corfid.com/ubb/eek.gif

I think 8 is enough. Great job folks. This has been a lot of fun.

Sidney Freedmen 08-24-2004 10:31 PM

In my eyes, there's ONE more that deserves to be on that set. It's the song called It's Too Late, He Wins. only big GL fans would have heard this one
It's Gordie on the piano and Terry at the other end. But, I'll let The Master decide on that.

maybe i'm misunderstanding your comment, SF, but aint that floyd cramer on keys for that gem? i'd really like to somehow filter out the backups on that as well as on Remember Me

those 2 tunes redirected me to jim reeves anthology, i'd have loved to have seen he and floyd and chet (atkins) as a live trio

Sidney Freedmen 08-24-2004 10:49 PM

I swear that's Terry bcuse they recorded that song on the Village Corner CD if i remember right. if i'm wrong, so sorry

i only know the songbook recording and not the VC version
heck, maybe i'm not the big gord fan i thought i was, lol

char, please send me mp3 of this version...now!(as you would say, lol)

charlene 08-25-2004 07:04 AM

I don't see that song listed on the TWO TONES at the Village corner album.

Char
Terry passed away last month.

Auburn Annie 08-25-2004 09:31 AM

From a post (not his site) by Wayne Francis:

I think they should ALL be there... http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Borderstone 08-26-2004 10:33 PM

I think Gordon should just get together with all the people that have anything to do with his music and just release one great big box set.
Ranging from Two Tones to whatever may be his last CD and including the rarities too. Release it in 2012 and call it "Gord's 50th Gold Anniversary Collection."

Probably go for nearly $175.00 but hey,I'd save up for it! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif
