"The Wabash Cannonball" /Hank Snow and
"Cool Water" /The Sons Of The Pioneers with Bob Nolan are great Western Songs that Gord would do fine by. "Sweet Betsy From Pike"/ Rex Allen would also be great and "Down In The Valley"/Slim Whitman too. |

Has anyone heard of the song "Poor Seafearing Stranger"? I heard it a couple of weeks ago and just thought that it had a Gordon Lightfoot sound to it. I have no way of knowing if anyone has recorded it since this is the first time hearing it.

Hi CMDJ - if you're on this road, how about Red River Valley (recently on the Horse Whisperer soundtrack by George Strait.Cant remember the original artist. Before my time, I hope LOL. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif)) |

How about Looking Glass' #1 hit from 1972 "Brandy(You're a Fine Girl)"?
Brandy you're a fine girl What a good wife you would be Your eyes could steal a sailer from the sea Brandy you're a fine girl What a good wife you would be But my life, my love, and my lady Is the Sea I always thought that sounded like quintessential Gord lyrics. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif ------------------ "...If YoU fEeL iT yOu BeTtEr BeLiEvE iT, yOu'Re GoNnA sEe It, YoU nEeD tO kNoW/iT iS rIsInG lIkE a FeAtHeR, dIpPiNg & DaNcInG fRoM bElOw/ThErE's A nEw WaVe ThAt Is BrEaKiNg In ThE wAkE oF a PaSsInG sHiP/eVeRy NaTiOn'S gOnNa Be ShAkEn, PuT iT tOgEtHeR, dOn'T lEt It SlIp..." |

I already replied once ("Leaving on a Jet Plane"). Today I heard "Tangled Up in Blue" by Dylan. One of my fave Dylan songs and as I was listening, I thought Gord would do a great job with it. I think his voice would add a special something to an already great song.

The origins of "The Red River Valley" have been lost in time, though a song written in 1896 by James Kerrigan, "In the Bright Mohawk Valley" seems to be a direct ancestor. The song provided the title for the first Republic film that reunited The Sons Of The Pioneers with Roy Rogers in 1941 and was used in the 1943 Rogers clasic "King Of the Cowboys". Hey, while we are at it Silver Heels (name comes from Don Q?) how about "El Paso" that was a 1960 #1 song for Marty Robbins? |

Only other hit they had that I can think of was "Jimmy Loves Mary Ann". As for content though "Brandy" is right on the mark for Gordo. |

I'd love to hear Gord do "Make You Feel My Love'" previously recorded by Billy Joel and Garth Brooks.

CMDJ - coming right up to date here ... how
about Gord doing the current George Strait hit 'Go On'. However, at the end of the day I love Gord doing Gord best of all. |
