John, thanks for that sight. Man, I am a perfume addict, and I had no idea...now all I need is a smellivision monitor and computer enhancement and I will be in there. Did you tell us the list of people in that picture, another post some time ago?

You never know Cathy. You need to let others hear or read your lyrics. When Johnny Cash first heard his song "I Walk The Line" on the radio for the first time, he called his manager and told him to please tell the radio stations to stop playing it because he thought it sounded so bad. His manager told him that would be impossible because radio stations all over the US were playing it and it went straight to number one. You never know how what you write will affect others.

Firstly apologies for not posting a reminder last Friday, which possibly explains why only 3 of us made it to the chat room. one was the faithful Melburnian (catman) Ron but he was on this occasion unable to meet English nightbird Gaby. Maybe tonight at9 pm EST which I am sure Gaby is actually 2am GMT not 3 am as I think you stated erroneously once before
the direct (browser) link is at:-
http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com
or far better access using the mIRC "chart client" for which there is a fully detailed description at:- http://www.mirc.shorturl.com
Finally I failed to respond to an earlier comment by "flickchick" re her/his registration. At the time I am convinced that the entry read flickchick (unregistered) I am pretty sure because I think I checked to see if above the subject bar there was an icon for the poster's profile, but there wass not initially. And certainly shortly thereafter I saw the another post to a new topic by said flickchick and noted that at that time as now you are identified as a member, Hence my intemperate jibe about not being registered!!
Please forgive me for upsetting you

Firstly my apologies to anyone who looked in to the chat room last Friday. We were unable to do so until after 9.30 EST and there was nobody there then nor an hour or so later.
Gaby did e-mail me to say she had dropped off a little while before the start time but hopes to attend tonight as does Gwen Snyder
so I hope I can chat to a few of you this evening at 9pm EST

John, my darling, unless you are trying to bankrupt me by forcing me to sign up to broadband in the UK, so I can download all your pics, please, please, please start a new Friday Chat thread.

Do you have shares in BT or ntl? http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I am replying to this old chat room topic today inorder to bringup the topic that includeded a contribution by Orillia native "the cromulent chipster" Kyle
but for this evenings chat ignore the old links to Rik's original setup that was with an Internet Relay Chat server that had to give up
the current button links are as before

the links are:-
Red button for those with mIRC already installed
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFO...red_button.jpg

click this blue button to enter via the applet/browser method:-
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFO...lue_button.jpg
John Fowles

Having said that there may well be a problem loading the Java applet if you have Windows XP SP1 or SP2.
how do you know??
simply right click on my computer and select "properties"
http://h1.ripway.com/corfid/johnfowl...Properties.jpg
it shows you the version etc.
also if you go to I.E, help on the IE toolbar
then select about Internet Explorer you might see this
http://h1.ripway.com/corfid/johnfowles/About_IE.jpg
showing the latest (SP2) version of Internet Exploder 6

This is important because as I found out SP2 certainly no longer will load any Java applet
due to a legal wrangle between Microsoft and Sun Microsytems
Microsoft were obliged to discontinue including their JVM (Java Virtual Machine) in Internet Exploder
OK It is actually possble to download and install the JVM from the java download site at:-
http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
but thev file sizes are
Windows (Online Installation)
(filesize: 238 KB)
orget the complete file
Windows (Offline Installation)
(filesize: 16.00 MB)
It is therefore very much quicker and easier to do the recommended thing and get the small mIRC program(me) from http://www.mirc.com

Or click the green button for those curious about what all the fuss about mIRC is all about

http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFO...EEN_BUTTON.JPG

Warning it got extremely busy last week I thibnk in total some 21 chatters wandered in a new record so one needs patience to say anything and keen/quick eyesight to keep up with proceedings
We hope zoneranger was not discouraged and returns this evening at 9 PM EST
