Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
36: Biscuit City
|
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
Joveski,
I'll take your word for it as an ambiguous case. I refuse to try to prove anyone wrong. I'm singing that one in my head, "and the town is squeeky CLEAN" - is that the line you're thinking, and/or did I GET IT RIGHT ? In any event, this ambiduous case begins with the song runnin' through my head whewn I thought of the cord "clean" and would be curious if anyone can get it based on the clues thus far: "who (or what) cleans for a living" - re=stated that way - think ppl will get the one I had in my head. But kudos Joveski - I say you got a valid case on 36. Whuh! And Q34 remains as the last , unless someone gets my original thought on "clean" Q36.....decked..... not as in slugged or knowcked down, rather as dressed colorfully... to which I will add "She was".... ~geo steve |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
Q34 Rainbow Trout
"She was all decked out like a rainbow trout" (I didn't even have to cheat) |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
whuh! to RM ! Congratulations on the apparent stumper. Taking the ambiguous case of clean as good too, its time for
drumroll from slightly-sloshed C&W Bar-band drummer pinch-hitter , geodeticman of '77 ilk -crash! on the cymbal, quickly silenced by my hand, followed by the sound of a distant dog barking..... Q's 37 - 42: Q37...everyone that she met..... Q38...I can still put on....... Q39...dollar i earn(ed)..... Q40...roundest..... Q41...stirrin'...... Q42...ages...... There ya go...Enjoy ~geo steve |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
yep, i was reffering to bisciut city!
38: Saturday clothes 39: Boss man 40: Lazy morning 42: Rock of ages for #37, i was thinking On the high seas, but the real lyric is "someone she met" |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
Whohoe Dude ! JOVESKI GETS 4 IN RECORD TIME, of the 6 ! I think DQ came in similarly to this. OK...... -sigh- lol, the remaining two are:
Q37.....everyone that she met.......clue:....prisoner, who..... Q41.....stirrin'............. clue:....of a thousand......... BTW with each reply , would you guys mind saying you want them "easier" or "harder" ? That way I can make it more fun, the whole point..... ~geo steve |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
Miscellaneous Question based on Joveski thinking of "On the High Seas"
does anyone know what "On the High Seas" was tentatively called and sung as on the '76 Soundstage Live performance ? "take 5, keep ya alive" said Gord during the mid-show band personnel bio's intermission -you probably ALL know, and I am thinking myself clever.....LOL ~geo steve |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
BTW - THE ANSWER TO .Q36: .....clean....., allthough Biscuit City was accepted from Joveski as valid, and probably better than my intended song - cause Gord wrote it ! He did NOT write the song I was thinking of with the Q - "I used to Be a Country Singer" - "and she asked if she could clean my room" (the maid) - by memory. If anyone used search strings, I bet that would not turn up, cause its not a Lightfoot tune. Good song , though - I like GL's cover of it. I hope, for fun, to keep it sorta fair, everbuddy is going my memory, as Jovesky was et al. Just a "for the fun of it" reminder.
~geo steve |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
> of a thousand.........
face of a thousand people? On the high seas, was On the TV back in '79 |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
OK - Joveski, I'll buy that, on ....a thousand....., but does that ambiguous case also have .....stirrn'...? - I am not sure, but will take your word for it.... if not....the Q still stand with ....stirrin.... as the last clue.. and I'll add... I think I heard....
AND .....correkit' on "On the TV" during Soundstage '76 ! so, Q 37 is still up - ....everyone that she met.... ....prisoner, who... and a third clue ....died away at sea... and Q41 may still be up if it does not contain ....stirrin...but does have... a thousand.. what do you think by Jove ? |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
#37: Bitter Green!
|
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
By Jove, he's got it Watson!
Q37 Bitter Green correctanumdo , 500 Gord-coins to the winner. Which leaves only the origial intended . including both phrases ....stirrn(g)...... and .....a thousand.... to which I'll add.... ....you got that feelin in you soul...... Q41: per aove three clues... then onward to Q.s 43 - 48 ! ~geo steve |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
41: Is there anyone home!
"stirrn(g)" should be "stirred" :) |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
by jove you got it Joveski ! I'll yake your word for it on stirred versus stirring, my ears tell me stirrin' or stirring.... but thats cool..... its a great song, the one I go on and on about. Congrats
~geo steve |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !

43 is Peaceful Waters
|
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
Jenney - Q43 "Peaceful Waters" is correct congrats.. ! - now thats an old one - I like Stone Wall's vistory of it.....
JohninCt. - Q44 "Don Quixote" - is correct yes ! - i wondered when I wrote it thoug, if I made an ambiguous case with "King" being rife in "Protocol", but I tried to have the phrase conclusive....and, like you guys, I am not doing searches on words - going by memory, more fun, as I am sure it is for you... well done... OK that leaves Q48 ".....tested......" hard one sorta..... another clue.... "ten thousand" - that ought to bust it.... we're close to Q's 49 - 54 - SOMEBODY BLAST AWAY Q48 ~geo steve |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
I decided to cheat and just 'nuke' it.
Q48 - Whispers Of The North |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
RM known in the Pentagon as"Rem", the "Remidiator"walks rapidly into the WarRoom, and immediately to the edge of the DefCom group round-table, drops his folder on the table for emphasis, tears his RayBan Aviator glasses off with one hand only as they do in movies, slumps, then looking tired, sits down and rubs his eyes.General Rem,announces with the demeanour befitting a man responsible for immediate decisions with or without he President's approval as necessary, "Gentleman",and looking around the room and visually noting the two women in the room with the slightest of detectable perfunctory nods,"and ladies.. I have had to invoke the de facto rights of executive decision; functionally by executing the HomeLand Secuity Directive from SB 1175 we all know as H.S.A Directive #10101, Codename "CleanSweep", as of 7:28 P.M. Zulu time, under my own provisional authority. The President has concurred subsequent to the action, and, infact, endorsed it in principal after hearing the situation that unfolded in sector Q48, as you all are aware of." He stared sharply and briefly at the N.S.A. Director of Satellite Imagery Reconnaisance Geographic Systems,, who for arcane security reasons was cryptically referred to in acronym as S.I.R.G.E.O.S., akaThe Earth Visual Enhancer, in further arcane and cryptic acronym :
S.I.R.G.E.O.S.T.E.V.E , who had this poignant, but morose thought: "at what cost....a thermonuclear close range , no fallout neutron bomb, of minute megatonnage...a whole small area...... a thread... of lives.... at what cost.." lol congrats RM - yeah it was time to nuke Q48 I agree, now, new Q's ! Q49......so other than nothin'... Q50......sweeter than...... Q51......my brother..... Q52......older Q53......lee Q54......tacky HAVE FUN ~g.e.o.s.t.e.v.e |

Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
I like the quiz thread, but I don't have time to look up the answers. I answer the ones I know off the top of my head - if someone hasn't beat me to it.
It's a cool idea for a thread even if the interest has dwindled down. |
Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
OK Lavender, I'll take some good news as good news..er.... something like that lol. The thread lives for now ! Thanks,
