TheWatchman 08-13-2004 11:49 PM

Good pollywaggums man. Neither Ferrel or Farrel look anything like Gord.

Borderstone 08-14-2004 09:53 PM

Watchman,I think with a bit of Hollywood's special effects make up,Mike could look like he does now but Laurel did have a point about him being too tall, although they can change that these days too. I still contend tha Will F. could be Gord, with the right make up and a bit of weight loss.

Watch the episode of MASH though, where Winchester refuses to talk and Pierce & BJ try to make him. I think he (Mike) looked like him then.

Thanks for the pics John! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif I appreciate it because I just cannot get the hang of cut & paste or whatever. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif ...and I've had this PC for 5 months now! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif Later!

As someone said before, I think A.J. would be the closest match. Just a little work on that accent and toss the hat!

Yeah, take about a foot off in height...ever see him stand next to Jimmy Buffett? too tall, too tall...

stationmaster 08-15-2004 07:06 PM

Gord's no dwarf himself! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

LSH 08-15-2004 08:51 PM

dude, he's short. He's not a dwarf in terms of talent etc. But if he stands more than 5'5", I'm not female!! And with age and illness, I bet he's down to like 5'4".

Borderstone 08-15-2004 09:45 PM

I think Gordon's old LP{ covers just make him "look" tall. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif Listning to "Complete Greatest Hits as I type this,up to "Cotton Jenny". http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif Truth be told, when i met GL,I was surprised that I was taller than him (6'0)! I always thought he would be taller too if i met him. Ya never know do you? http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

Really! He looks a lot taller. Wow! I'm 5'5" maybe I could do the part. Could you draw me a Gord face and lip-sync the lyrics? lol....

LSH 08-15-2004 11:22 PM

I'm 5'6 1/2". he was standing a bit uphill of me for our pic. He arranged it that way lol.

Borderstone 08-16-2004 01:37 AM

If I were famous and shorter than women,I'd arrange it that way too. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

For some reason,on the subject of the thread,Gerald Macreany just came to mind! You know (Simon & Simon / Major Dad)?
Or is he too tall too? http://www.corfid.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif Boy,if this keeps up,we may end up casting Don Knotts! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/eek.gif http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif (Oh,wait...too old.) http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif

Hey Walter if you meant

Close but don't quite think so
I'll stick with my earlier suggestion Lawrence Of Arabia/Mr Chipping

Since you seem to be obsessed with this topic it's about time you made the effort as Laurel did to understand my tutorial for
displaying pics and show your own suggestions!!!

Maybe Gord could play himself as the "older Gord" and I would be happy to play his woman!

brink 08-16-2004 01:49 PM

I was amazed that Gord was so short and so skinny when I met him. I thought about just picking him up and tucking him under my arm and run like hell! But truth be known, he was a bit taller than me. I am 5' so most anyone is taller than me. I think I weighed more though, wow isn't THAT exciting!

Borderstone 08-16-2004 11:05 PM

Well John I did try to undertake your tutorial but I just couldn't get the hang of it. Getting the directions straight was a lot like trying to make sense of rap lyrics.

No reflection on you in that statemaent of course. I agree with you and Mr. Chippie! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif With a moustache he just might be passable. I'm not obsessed witht the topic,I just thought of it again when I watched that MASH episode.

Perhaps I am kind of grasping at straws here but I know it would be realy great movie with the right star(s) and people behind it. Well, dreamin' on...been me. Later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif

I had to pull this thread up after watching "Little Miss Sunshine" on Saturday. Bryan Cranston had a minor role, and IMO he is looking more and more like Gord every time I see him. He's a dead ringer for him 70s era.

BTW...good movie.

Actor Michael Parks...

Also, Steven Forrest (Last of the Mohicans, Deerslayer). Sorry, couldn't get a pic.

Borderstone 03-12-2007 02:19 PM

Holy Cow!! That Michael Parks picture is incredibly reminiscent of the "Back Here on Earth" LP cover!!

Give hime the job! Way to go Jess! ;)

Thanks for bringing this back up Lavender, this was one of my first really good topics,if not my first one at all. :)

Wow, I agree that Michael Parks is a clone of a younger Gordon Lightfoot.

Jesse Joe 03-12-2007 04:00 PM

Thank's B.Stone & D.S.Rose. Im really happy to see that someone else sees the resemblance. I thought for a while that it was just me...

There is also a B&W photo of a young Gord Lightfoot in the Book, Someday Soon, by: Douglas Fetherling.

He does look like Conan Obrien. I wish I could find this photo on the Internet. Putting one of Conan next to it, youd be amazed. BTW, Conan sometimes play the guitar on his talk show, and when I see him, I always think about that pic from the book... :)

Once again,I'm not joking. I can't post a picture but I kid you not! Borderstone, outta here & Alberta Bound! Or is it Hollywood http://www.corfid.com/ubb/confused.gif ???????
Hi Borderstone. This is the first time I saw this and it's March 13, again. Must be one of those days. :) 3+13+07

Borderstone 03-13-2007 02:12 PM

I say in Michael Parks we have the hands down winner for young Gordon. :)

Yeah Patti,03/13,pretty weird huh? ;) Then,I always have felt this topic drifted off and was incomplete,so maybe it was destined to resurface with Mr. Parks now being in the picture.

Patti 03-13-2007 03:38 PM

That Michael Parks does look like him in that picture.

Borderstone 03-18-2007 05:28 PM

TSwish63,Jack Palance passed away last year. :(

Besides, even if living he'd have been too tall to portray Gordon.

Jennifer 03-19-2007 06:07 PM

Michael Parks is a dead ringer for Gordon as a younger man!

Sam Elliot comes to mind as an older Gordon. He's a great actor. Plus they've both got lots of hair and a big 'stache! :D

Alan jackson hands down .. like some one mentioned before it is not just the look but the whole man we would be trying to capture. southern to canadian accent isn't that hard to change .

Yes! Second that! (or third now or fourth), but what about an older Lightfoot?? And who could sing like Gord? They would have to "lip sync". Did
Jaqouin Phoenix (Hope he will forgive me for the misspelling of his name)do his own singing in the Johnny Cash movie??

Shouldn't Michael Parks be quite a bit older now?
I thought his series was on when our kids where young and now we are grandparents.

U-m-m, hasn't Don Knotts passed on?? I think so,
if not my apologies to him. :(

Borderstone 03-24-2007 03:12 PM

I really wish people would notice the dates of messages before they post. ;)

Louise,I posted that humorous comment about Don Knotts back on August 16th,2004. That was a good 1 year & 1/2 before he passed on in February of 2006.

I was certainly kidding of course.

Cat_Writer 03-25-2007 08:41 AM

What about Jack Wagner who plays Nick Marone in "The Bold and the Beautiful?" He's not just a soap star. I've seen him in a couple of movies and he's a pretty good actor. He could easily play a younger Gordon and with makeup, etc., could portray Gordon in later years.

Just a thought.

Sorry about the repeat. I have absolutely no idea why that message was printed twice. When I try to delete one, it takes them both away. So please accept my apology.

Interesting topic. I seriously doubt anyone would do the G.L. story, but then again some probably said the same about Buddy Holly. Nope...I can't see Gary Busey in this role. And I hesitate to mention it since he's had a string of bombs but how about...Kevin Costner? I think there is some resemblance today between the two, though not when Costner was younger and Gord was younger. Carrey might well be able to pull it off since he's a very good actor but I don't really see as much physical resemblance between Carrey and Gord as I do between Costner and G.L. That's my two Lincoln-head's worth!

Borderstone 03-25-2007 05:11 PM

Cat-Writer your two messages are worded slightly different.
If the system was responsible for the "double posts",they would be worded exactly the same.

What I think is that you tried to post the first one and it went but maybe it took to long so you typed out another.

I'm not nit-picking at you or picking on you, just pointing out that "exact" double posts are usually from hitting "add reply" to many times.

Overall though,no biggie apologies aren't necessary. ;)

I still say Billy Bob would be able to pull it off. Tall, lanky, and what a artist.

Beatriz 04-03-2007 01:53 AM

I think a good young Gordon could be portrayed by an actor named Chris Pratt.. here are some of his pictures..I think he's pretty much a dead ringer
