I had a few different thoughts when I looked at that array of photos, and all the expressions in them. First I remember the young man that owned that face, and how many years have passed, and how much that face has changed. Then I thought what an absolute privilege it has been to be able to watch the aging of that face, and the journey that goes along with it. How fortunate we have all been to have had GL in our lives for so long, and still have him love what he does.

If she didn't own a bookstore and have big money no one who writes a book or releases a CD would give her the time of day. She denies she has a monopoly in teh book business but I would disagree...

What really concerns me is that she's an annual attendee at the secret globalist Bilderberg meetings, hobnobbing with the world elites behind closed doors. No wonder she has a monopoly on the publishing business in Canada.

My thoughts, too. Those photos are fantastic. I found myself looking for the young GL face each of those pictures. You can still see him. He still has the sparkle in his eyes, and the joy of loving what he does shows in his face. You are right, it has been a privilege to grow old with him.

She is a bully and had an agenda. To me, it seemed she was rudely pushing to see if she could get more out of GL than he wanted to reveal, misusing her role as host to do so.

She fully understands that GL is reticent about discussing his past --he has said "I don't want to hurt anybody" and he seems genuinely to have moved on. He's not that person anymore, why resurrect that?

But she wanted the notoriety of being the one to get him to reveal some nugget of information. Same with getting him to overcome his reticence about playing unprepared. She would have seen the CBC interview, and how Gord doesn't like to play without being prepared ... so I am more than suspicious about the guy with the guitar and capo being there "coincidentally". Smells a bit like she set it up to ensure Gord had no OUT.

Also the way she said to that person in the audience "this is MY show" was a marker of a big ego. Yes, I'd say its "all about her" in her mind. Maybe I'll download a book off bit torrent in honour of her.

I think she wanted the mic to get back up front so I could use it. Time ran out tho.. Don't know if she caught Gordon coming down into my row to say hi to me..
I was going to ask him if there were more tour dates to be added for 2012 since it seems like quite a reduced list - There will be more dates in Sept./October..
I found the moderator unprepared and woefully lacking on current issues in regards to recent honours that Lightfoot has rec'd and the very important and prestigous Songwriters Hall of Fame induction in June. She didn't even seem to know the recent album history prior to this LIVE cd. I SO wanted to shout at her several times. She seemed to be fixated on ancient history of women and alcohol binging it up every chance she got. It's probably just as well I didn't get a chance to ask a question - she pissed me off - a lot. Gordon was a gentleman however and was his usual charming self.

omigoodness when she said that to the woman in the audience she had such a look on her face! I took an instant dislike to her as I watched her looking at people as she made her way thru the crowd leading Gordon to the stage. As if it was all about her and not the legend walking humbly behind her.... good gawd. Had I been her I'd have made sure Gordon knew where the stage was and where he was to walk and I'd have let him lead the way or I'd have been onstage introducing him and let him walk in on his own. I realaize they were in the green room prior to the 7 pm showtime but she could have let Gordon lead the way. And to avoid him being the gentleman and insisting she go first she should have thrown herself from the balcony on the 2nd level.
lol
me bad.

Tell us how you really feel Char :) lol I'd never heard of this woman but I'd wondered too about her interview & what little she seemed to know of his present life. And I had to laugh when she was trying to move on & he kept talking about his canoe trips. I met him during that period of his life for the 1st time & asked about the canoe trips & he did the same thing....just talked & talked about it. I enjoyed every second of it because he was talking about something that was obviously important to him & something he enjoyed.

I know..I'm bad...but she ticked me off ROYALLY!
;)
I was bemused and fascinated at his recall of river names, locations, days on the rivers, portages..all in sequential order of trip..lol
I can barely remember the name of the small river that runs thru my neighbourhood and I've been here 19 years.lol
